Scotland / Alexander?
« on: Sunday 23 October 16 17:33 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have made a post before Samuel Alexander (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=661530.msg5437480#msg5437480) however I have been trying to find his Father. The only information I have about it is all on this roots chat post. I am hoping someone might be able to help as I have hit a brick wall or just let me know if there is nothing I can do to find Samuel ALexander Kilday's Father.

Samuel is transcribed as Janet Kilday Alexander in 1891

Janet Alexander 34 but "she" is a pit sinker ???  b Ireland
Bridget Kilday 27 housekeeper b Kirkintilloch
Charles Kilday 5 b Kirkintilloch
Janet Kilday Alexander 1 b Kirkintilloch
Kirkintilloch ED 2 Page 16 Line 11

Doesn't look like she ever married Samuel. Charles was probably her illegitimate son by another man and Samuel born to her relationship with Samuel Alexander

Bridget is listed as Widow on the 1911 census (Scotland's people). Birth certificate for Samuel Kilday he is listed as illegitimate child of Bridget Kilday born 1889 Kirkintolich, Dunbartonshire and died 1959 Govan. He has two brothers James A and Charles. Samuel Kilday Alexander, on his marriage cert has Samuel Alexander Iron Foundry Labourer (deceased) as Father and Bridget Alexander,M.S Kilday (deceased) as his Mother.

Any help much appreciated,

:)

Thank you so much for all the help Boo and Ladyhawk. I agree and will invest in a birth cert. I will have to double check for marriage info but I think I have it.  This is a search for my mum's Grandfather who she really loved so it is well worth it.

Hi,

I have been looking for John Elliat/Elliott abt 1816 South Hetton, Durham birth based on information from census records. His son is John Elliott and Grandson Joseph (H) Elliott. His wife is Elizabeth Elliott born abt 1812 Sunderland.

I was wondering if you think this could be him? From Family Search.

Name    John Elloitt
Gender    Male
Birth Date    07 Sep 1816
Birthplace    SUNDERLAND,DURHAM,ENGLAND
Father's Name    Thomas Elloitt
Mother's Name    Elizabeth Belshay

South Hetton is not that far to Sunderland so I was thinking it could be this John.

Any help is very much appreciated :)

Thanks, this is interesting. It has been mentioned that he could have had another marriage so I wonder if this is his second wife and Catherine died when Patrick was very young so possibily she is his mother as that is what is written on his death cert.

Hi,

I am looking for my x3 Great Grandfather Francis Cassidy marriage certificate. He was born about 1833 died 1906 and his wife's name is Catherine Dossey. I know they had a son Patrick born about 1861. A roots chat member found his death index but I haven't managed to find anything else.
