Scotland / Re: Help To Find Death Cert
« on: Tuesday 28 June 16 12:55 BST (UK)  »
Thank you :) Isobel.Your help is much appreciated :). I have been struggling for a while with the Stafford's.

Just to update I have a marriage cert where Peter Stafford is her Father but realised I got a date mixed up so I will forget about that line of research for now. The death cert states her parent's are Patrick Stafford (Blacksmith) and Ann Lennock.
George Cassidy (son) is also on the death cert. George is also on Mary Cassidy's (daughter) marriage certificate.

May be of interest.

« on: Tuesday 28 June 16 12:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi I am looking for the death cert of Patrick Cassidy born about 1861 in Longford or around this area however the census just says Ireland. I have their daughter Mary's Marriage which put's his wife Ann Stafford born Longford,Longford Ireland. Also, searching for the death certificate of his wife Ann Stafford I know the family were living in:

1901 Living at 37, Albert Street, Govan

CASSIDY Patrick 40    Fireman On Steamship  b Ireland
CASSIDY Annie    Wife    42    b Ireland
CASSIDY Robert 19 Apprentice Riveter Shipyard b Ireland
CASSIDY George 17    Apprentice Riveter Shipyard b Ireland
CASSIDY Francis 15    Apprentice Catch Shipyard b Ireland
CASSIDY Patrick 13 b Ireland
CASSIDY Mary    6  b Govan, Lanarkshire
CASSIDY Susan 3 b Govan, Lanarkshire

Due to living here it seems likely that he died in the area.

I was wondering if this is an she was born about 1859 died around 1924 mentioned in another topic.  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=417759.msg5985370#msg5985370

Also, on Scotland's People could this be Ann
1923   CASSIDY   ANN       STAFFORD   F   64   DYSART   /FIFE   426/00 0026

Any help much appreciated,

Francesca :)

Hello,

This is great ☺. Patrick Cassidy and Ann stafford had a daughter Mary born in Govan, Lanarkshire around 1895 but she died in 1929. I think that Francis son of Patrick and Ann is her older brother. I know nothing about this side of the family tree but would love to explore more. I believe Patrick and Ann are my 2nd Great Grandparents. I have Mary's marriage cert which shows that her brother George Cassidy was present at her wedding.

Francesca ☺

Hello AMBLY,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my topic and pointing out my mistake. I also admit to being very confused however after reading through your reply I would have to say that I made a mistake with the D.O.B of Cornelius Kilday born 1814 for some reason I seem to have miscalculated his birth and wrote 1821 :-[. I have all of this information but found the 1861 census for Candia Kilday very interesting. Yes, the removal order is what I was referring to. I have been researching Cornelius Kilday and Mary Mc Aulay:

Then there is THIS fellow death in 1866
DEATH 1866, Kirkintilloch, Dumbartonshire
Cornelius KILDAY  52 years (so born abt 1814)
Died 18 Nov 1866, @ 4h am
At East High Street, Kirkintilloch
Labourer
Married to Mary McAULAY
Father: Patrick KILDAY, Farmer, deceased
Mother: Catherine KILDAY, ms BRUSHLAND, deceased
Informant, Mary KILDAY, widow, present, her X Mark

Then there is this........ def. enumerated as Candia! Maybe supposed to be 'Condie/Condy, apparently a pet form of Cornelius'? The address  Cowgate, is the same where your Biddy KILDAY was born 1863:
CENSUS 1861: Cowgate, Kirkintilloch, Dumbartonshire
Head: Candia KILDAY 40, Ag Lab, b Ireland (b abt 1821)
Wife: Mary KILDAY 30, Ag Lab, b Ireland (b abt 1831)
Dau: Nancy KILDAY 15, Ag Lab, b Ireland (b abt 1846)
Boarder: Catherine KILDAY 35, Ag Lab, unm, b Ireland (b abt 1826)
(Note: Nancy can be a pet name for Agnes or Ann)

And this, which you mentioned on the other topic
PARISH REMOVAL ORDER 1869:
Return of all poor persons removed from Scotland to Ireland
From the 1st.Jan.1867 to the 31st. Dec. 1869.
County Parish: Kirkintilloch, Adult female, widow of Cornelius KILDAY
With 6 Children under age 16
Sent from the port of Greenock, to Donegal, Ireland.

Is this this removal order what you're referring to here:
Quote
I believe she may have lived after this due to another record I have found which lead me towards looking in Ireland.

And the 1859 marriage in Campsie, Stirlingshire of the parents of your Biddy KILDAY.
MARRIAGE, 16 Nov 1859: Roman Catholic Church, Lennoxtown, Campsie, Stirlingshire
GROOM: Cornelius KILDAY, his X Mark
No age, No residence, No occupation, No parents names listed.
BRIDE: Mary McAULAY, her X Mark
Witness her signature John GOLDIE, also the marriage witness
Witness her signature John GREEN, also the marriage witness
No age, No residence listed
Father: Charles McAULEY
Mother: Bridget BRICE

CHILDREN: of parents Cornelius KILDAY & Mary McAULAY:
Biddy KILDAY born 7 July 1863, Kirkintilloch [ https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XY5T-SM2]
Mary KILDAY born 25 Dec 1866, Kirkintilloch [ https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XY5R-G7Q]

BIRTH CERT 1863:
Biddy KILDAY b 7 July 1863, Cowgate, Kirkintilloch
Parents: Cornelius KILDAY and Mary KILDAY ms McAULAY, married about Nov 1859 Campsie
Informant: Cornelius KILDAY, father, his X mark. Not Present (at birth)

Cheers

Stirlingshire / Look up birth cert
« on: Sunday 05 October 14 22:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am looking for some help. I have been trying to find a birth record for a Mary Mc Aulay but unfortunately her marriage cert doesn't give her D.O.B it does however list the names of her parents Charles Mc Aulay and Bridget Brice. I have tried to find her birth in Scotland and Ireland but haven't had much luck using the dates around her husbands birth and death. She married in Scotland. Her husband Cornelius Kilday was born in 1821 and died in 1886 however I believe she may have lived after this due to another record I have found which lead me towards looking in Ireland.

Any insights on where to continue this search I would very much appreciate. I wasn't sure where to post it. I have a separate post about her parents and the family

Armed Forces / Navy records? What is this uniform?
« on: Wednesday 01 October 14 18:58 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I would like some advice on where to start searching for my Grandfather's records:

Francis Alexander
B:17 Mar 1923 in Glasgow, Govern, Scotland
D:Sep 1991 in Gateshead, Durham, England

I also have a Seaman's discharge book of his where he has his name written as Frank Alexander in 1973. I believe this book may be the last one he received however i would love to be able to see records from his earlier days in the Navy. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Please know I have uploaded the wrong picture  :-[ and this a an uncle.

Thank you,

 :)
