Warwickshire / George Franks & Annie Elizabeth Millin

I was going to post this into the Beginners board, but it's saying I have reached my limit.  Please, could the admins look into this for me.

I've recently been made aware of another branch to my family.  But first to provide some background to what I do know.  George Franks & Annie Elizabeth Millin who were both born in Warwickshire and married in 1884 in Birmingham.

The 1911 Census, shows they had seven children; Thomas, Agnes, Annie Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Lily, George, Frederick.  I descend from their son George and I've been made aware of a cousin of my grandmother of whom I didn't know about.

He was known as Harry Franks but his name was in fact Henry J Franks and he was born in 1922.  And he married Marjorie Plant in 1946.  They had five children.  This has been confirmed by my uncle & aunt to be the correct family.

But this is where it gets confusing, Henry J Franks was one of eight children; Leah, Tom, Annie, Agnes, Constance, Thomas and Sidney. And their mother's maiden-name was Hodgetts but their father Thomas married in 1916 to Mary E Stride.  Leah the eldest was born in 1917.

So I'm not sure where to go from here, as the family is correct but no marriage record exists between a Franks & Hodgetts, so not sure where the maiden-name comes from.  Any ideas would be much appreciated?

Dear all,

I've been told of a story that my 2nd great grandmother performed on stage.  And I would like to know if there is any truth to the story.  Does anyone have any recommendations for a good place to start my research?

Regards
Stuart

Hi,

I have a photograph of my uncle taken at a time when he was a little boy.  He was born in Drogheda,  Ireland in the 1920s.  And I'm intrigued as to the significance of the white armband on his left arm and wondered if anyone has an ideas on what it might mean?

Many thanks,
Stuart
