Hi Monica,
That's great! Thank you!

Needed to confirm that the recently discovered war casualty was the same person I already have on my family tree.  I think I am now convinced he belongs on my tree!

Thanks again
:)

Hi,

Relative gave address as Cecilton, Stewarton Drive, Cambuslang in 1915.  At another time, address was 61 Stewarton Road.

Anyone know anything about Cecilton?  Is it the same house at 61?

Any help would be great.

:)

Hi,

Relative gave address as Westwood, Monkton, Ayrshire in 1930s.

Anyone got any idea where this is?  Is it a house? An area? An institution?

Any help would be great.

Hi,
Apparently these cemetery records are held by East Renfrewshire rather than Renfrewshire.

Inverness / Re: Knoydart Macdonalds

Hi,

I have McDonells at Kinlochourn, births of children and death of mother Anne nee Macdonald were registered in Knoydart.  Anne's death and birth of son Samuel were regitered by her father who was living on Knoydart at that time.  I believe the Macdonalds came from Camusrory. Can look up the detail if you think there is a connection.

Kinlochourn and Camusrory are not far as the crow flies - and are both near Glen Quoich.

Can't help you with any Lewis connection.

Not even 100% sure the above are related as my (possible) grandfather-in-law's birth was registered by the postman in Knoydart and did not fill in date and place of parents' marriage!

Argyllshire / Re: McNiven/Islay birth 1836 in Skibba? Kibba? Hibba? Hibbe?

Hi,

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you.

I went to Islay last summer and had a good look around so your info re Port Charlotte area was very helpful.  Found Skibba which is now basically 1 house north of Port Charlotte but also a wee local history centre so lots of info.

🙂

Hi,

Although parts of Glasgow are in Renfrewshire, most of Glasgow comes under Lanarkshire so you may have better luck posting there too.

Have you tried searching for birth, marriage & death certificates and census info on the Scotland's People website?

🙂
