Thank you. Do you mean that you have seen something to indicate there was something in the Echo or that there may possibly  have been one?

I live in Hampshire, so would have to send for the article if is him.

Lancashire / Liverpool 1924 Tram Death
« on: Friday 06 September 13 11:26 BST (UK)  »
Still looking for  Richard Dennis b. abt 1870 who supposedly died abt 1924 on or in an accident with a tram.  I assumed it was Manchester from family stories, but no luck. We have not been able to find a record of his death in Manchester.

However, there is a death of a Richard Dennis in Sep 1924 in Liverpool aged 48 who I  can't find a matching birth or census record for. I am considering sending for this certificate just in case, as there were family links to Birkenhead.

Does anyone know of any Liverpool records/archives which might help please?

Sorry it's all so vague.

Aw thanks Barbara - that was the incident I was looking for re George Williams as I had seen mention of it.

I can rule it out now at least - I had wanted to see if it was a multiple accident as I am looking for a Richard Dennis who supposedly had an accident in/on/with a tram in abt 1924.

Thanks so much :)

Thanks for looking anyway... yes, I've got the details of the train accident thank you. Family story said tram, but you know how that can alter over time!

Does anyone know where I could find out about tram accidents in 1924 in Manchester please?

I am particularly interested to see if there was anything on 27 March 1924.

There are no newspapers for Manchester for that time that I can find on line.

Many thanks for any tips.

Cumberland / Re: Selith, Cumberland?

PS I have ruled out the Richard Dennis born in Esh by the way as he turns up in a later census elsewhere married into a different family.

Thanks for all your replies. I will head off to the Wigton records.

Well, that's interesting about Hannah Crozier! I will definitely have a look at Silloth.

But no, I am looking for Richard Dennis born abt 1870.

Thanks. I had wondered if it should have been Silloth.

The entry is in the 1911 census when the head of household would have written it himself, so I guess could have made an error.. In the 1901 place of birth is recorded just as Cumberland.

This individual is a bit of a mystery. I have a possible census for the family in Co Durham, at Esh and Elwick and had wondered about that - whether it was just on the border Cumberland/Durham in 1870?

Selith, Cumberland has been entered as place of birth on a census - but I cannot find trace of it.

Has anyone heard of it in Cumberland please?
