Hi Dee-jay,
It could be indeed - Salcombe is not that far from Chardstock (though they more usually went to Lyme Regis if they went to the coast to find brides!)
I did find the Susanna Tucker m. John Parris 1802 Salcombe Regis, but was unsure as the first child, Rachel, born 1807, which seemed quite a gap for those days.
I only looked in the Parish records for deaths, but 1840 would be FreeBMD and would fit.
John was christened 20-Feb-1780 Chardstock.
