Lancashire / Re: Lancashire Day , 27th November
« on: Wednesday 27 November 13 09:00 GMT (UK)  »
I'm off to a reading of the  Declaration of Loyalty to the Queen - the Duke of Lancaster. I've just polished mi clogs. Later it's a celebration in my local where I am hosting a gathering of my former work colleagues - black pudding, black peas, hotpot, apple pie and creamy Lancashire cheese.  This to accompany some Lanky poems and a quiz in which all the answers are the name of a Lanky town.

Lancashire / Re: Preston local newspapers

It could be that the newspapers are in a store other than the one in the Harris. The county library have a big store-room in a street off Corporation St and another near to County Hall,. I think a request asking that they be made available to view and giving a couple of weeks notice will do the trick..It is unlikely that they have disposed of them. Bob

In case you are not aware, I bring it to your attention that Lancashire Day is on 27th November each year. On it, a proclamation is made that Lancastrians swear allegiance to the Queen, the Duke of Lancaster, and affirm that we believe that the county's boundaries have not been changed   and still stretch from Dalton to Denton, Hawkshead to Hale........See the website of the 'Friends of Real Lancashire' to learn more...... www.forl.co.uk

Carole - me and my pals in the FORL ( Friends of Real Lancashire) maintain that Hawkshead in the Hundred of Lonsdale North of the |Sands|) is STILL in Lancashire, no matter to which council the residents pay their rates.  ....I shall now start another thread  headed 'Lancashire Day'.
