I have a pal in Accrington who is descended from JEL and know another lady in Australia but she is difficult to contact.  I will try to contact both of them. Lightfoot's photo is top of the stairs in Accrington Library. He is perhaps the only prominent Victorian Accringtonian who does not have s street named after him. Bob

There is a church -I've forgotten the name - on Preston New Rd, Marton, which had burials. I'll find the name

Want any particular LPRS publications ? Send me your wants and I'll try to find them.   This applies also to any Lancashire-related books.

I feel there will not be a record of his work in one place  However, he will be mentioned in the Liverpool newspapers, and in the council minutes. It is likely that he would get an lengthy obituary in the papers. I don't agree that he would be a Returning Officer, as these are paid officers of the council. Bob

Somerset / Rev Eccles J CARTER and Francis SAVAGE born Westbury

These two men, of similar age, appear in the 1841 census. In later life, Eccles Carter became a vicar, Francis Savage became a sugar refiner.  I have been told that Peter from Hampshire has Eccles Carter on his pedigree chart oin Ancestry, but I have been unable to access this.  I have a book bearing an 1837  inscription by Savage to his friend Carter which I will gladly give to a descendant. Find me on the 'Sales' or the Lancashire section.

I am in touch with people who have an active interest in the WM and have offered to put the poster in touch.

I am expecting an announcement soon about the action being taken by the Lancashire FHSoc.  I will relay it as soon as I hear.

It would be useful if other members on here might make suggestions as to where the collection might go. - e.g. Stonyhurst College.

This is sad news.  Does anyone know of any theological library which might step in and take the quantities of stock ? I think that discussions may be taking place between the Talbot and the Lancashire Family History Society for other stock.
