The free three day access currently offered by Ancestry.com is still available. So for those that thought that they had missed it, have a dabble as the offer should be withdrawn soon.

Occupation Interests / Do you have Great Eastern Railway connections
« on: Monday 22 May 06 00:00 BST (UK)  »
I have picked up some bound copies of the Great Eastern Railway Magazine for the period of 1911 to 1917 and they have a wealth of information held within their pages for family research, marriages-retirements-obituaries-of members of staff of this railway are given with short bio's. Also included for the years between 1914 to 1917 are G.E.R. staff members who gave their life during those years of the Great War again these have small, limited bio's. All of this information has pictures of the staff member mentioned. If anyone  feels that their family members  have a connection with this company I am only too willing to do look ups and to send the info on.

A few of the names mentioned are Sapsford-Bugg-Damant-Canham-Wiffen-Butterworth-Trotman.

« on: Tuesday 14 March 06 01:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all

I have a Donald Watson marrying Bridget Monks on 21st September 1885 at Duntocher in the parish of Old Kirkpatrick their respective parents were Archibald Watson and Mary Watson (nee Campbell) and John Monks and Mary Monks (nee Dempsie). Does any of these people fit into anyones tree as I have struck a brick wall with them. One of Donald and Bridgets' daughters went onto marry a Tait in Glasgow.

Lanarkshire / 1901 census look up please for John Tait, Glasgow.
« on: Friday 10 February 06 11:09 GMT (UK)  »
Is it possible for someone to do a look up on the 1901 census for Glasgow for my grandfather please?

I am trying to locate the birthplace for my Grandfather John Tait who was born circa 1890 (on his army records he gives 1890-1st ww enlistment- and for his second ww service he gives 1891). Those sharing the census entry should be;
Duncan Tait Father
Janet Tait (nee Holmes) Mother
Malcolm Tait Brother
Duncan Tait Brother

They may have been living in the Anderson area of Glasgow at the time as Duncan and Janet married in India Street and it appears that most of the family came from this area at some stage.  Thanks in advance.
