Armed Forces / Korea service records?
« on: Sunday 05 March 06 22:43 GMT (UK)  »
My dad was in Korea in the early 1950's but joined the army earlier.  Would my mum be able to get his service records?  We have his service book and number.

If so does anyone know the address where we would write for the records and the cost?  What kind of info would it have?

Many thanks if you can help

Cannot find anything with Andrew born in Scotland, have checked Scotlands people and census. Wondering if there could be a connection with these below, and the enumerator made a mistake by putting Scotland on the above 1881 not Ireland?

Would value another opinion, or appreciate if you think I am right / wrong ???

Armed Forces / 29th regiment Worcestershire 1850's/1860's
« on: Friday 24 February 06 21:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, hope someone more expert than I can help shed some light on the info below.  Also where I can gain more info if possible.

I have a Richard Gibbons in my tree that was born Sapperton Gloucester 1820.  Cannot find him in 1841/1851, thought he maybe out of the country.

On marriage cert 1857 Gillingham Kent, he is a Sergeant in the 29th Regiment. (Worcester, I googled). Same on both daughters birth certs in 1858/1860.  They were born in Plymouth, Devon

1861 census he is back in Gloucester, a Sergeant of the North Gloucester Militia.  1871 he is a grocer.

I have tried google and Kew but just find it confusing, can somone help enlighten me?

If he was born Gloucester, would it be practice to join Worcester regiment etc?

Any help appreciated, total novice in this area.  Many thanks if you can help.

Completed Census Requests / 1841 Evan Davies/Davis (completed)
« on: Monday 20 February 06 08:50 GMT (UK)  »
Looking to possibly find Evan Davies/Davis born 1827 Myddfai, Carmarthen.

He married c1850 in this area. (have all census) He is not on census with parents in Myddfai, but there is another possible for him in Myddfai.  Would just like to check that he is not in the Brecon census.  Could possibly be in the Ystradgynlais or Ystradfellte area.

Many thanks if you can help

Completed Census Requests / 1841- Mary Lewis - (completed)
« on: Saturday 18 February 06 14:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, looking for sks to assist.

Looking for Mary Lewis born c1829/1830 in Ystradgynlais.  Possibly not with family - see below.

Finally got cert for 1850 Ystradfellte marriage to Evan Davies.

First son was Ebenezer b ystradfellte c1851. second Daniel (his fathers' name) and first daughter was Elizabeth.

Have already traced a likely 'Lewis' family by Rootschat member Rhys, now cannot find it as it has been moved. There was no Mary... wondering if she was working elsewhere, as the family was a great match for names.

Many, many  thanks if you can help

Carmarthenshire Completed Requests / 1841 - Myddfai/Mothvey - Prosser (completed)
« on: Wednesday 15 February 06 23:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hope some SKS can help.

I am interested in the name 'Prosser'.  I have a David Prosser that is in Ystradgynlais, Brecon in 1841, but was born in Myddfai/Mothvey in c1816.

Would like info on any 'Prosser' families in this area to try and connect family.  Unable to obtain any info on the IGI, but hopefully as the name is not that common, would like some clues to work with.

Many thanks if you can help
