Elsie Kate married Frederick A. Degenhard, Marylebone.  Had two daughters Emily Anna b1889.  She remained in England I undrstand.  Kate Victoria b1898 came with her step-father to Melbourne.  Frederick Degenhard died 1909.
There was some confusion for a while as it seemed that Elia's wife was 13.

I didn't know they had any children until today, only the step daughter  and certainly have no names.  Should I be on the main OZ board?

Thank you MatthewJ64 and JamJar for the trouble you have taken.  Did you go especially to take the photo?  I lived in Frankston for six months.  Not that that is relevant.

My relation arrived in Melbourne on the 'Beltana' 1911 with wife Kate and step daughter Kate Victoria                     Degenhard.  Voting lists show him (I hope it is him) listed:
1913 Balaclava, 1914 Yarra, 1915/17/19/21 Yarra, 1922 Melbourne Ports, 1924-42 Flinders, 1949 Isaacs.
He died 30 Mar 1954 Cheltenham Hospital.
Could anyone suggest where I might look next.  I don't seem to have found a trace of him anywhere.

Every one of the replies has been most useful and some amusing and I thank you all.
I seem stuck because Free Trials of Findmypast, Family Search and others has not led to any new data and, indeed, casts doubt on some that Ialready had. :(
Have to try harder I guess.  Unfortunately I am a long way from Devon where my family came from.
Thank you again.  Bye

The Common Room / Parents on birth and marriage documents

I am now trying to confirm eigtheenth and seventeenth century ancesters.  Much easier in the nineteenth century with censuses and birth and marriage certificates.
Am I correct in thinking that Parish records do not include parents?  It seems so with Findmypast, unless I was doing something incorrectly.  If this is so, how does one establish relationships with any certainty?
Family Search seems to be the same though I haven't taken a Free Trial sub.

Thank you Martin for your advice.  I had thought one at a time was about all I could manage anyway with the time I have available. However, I had not thought of producing a Rootschat Review so I shall take that idea upas well.

Thanks again and best regards

Thank you Mart'n'Al and groom.

I shall follow your good advice and take up some Free Trials, which I have avoided until now.

Hi

I know I can continue to ask for help from kind members on specific items, but I feel I should search myself and not rely on others and there are eight I am currently searching and trying to verify.  It's just that there a number of sites and I can only afford to pay for one.

I have tried Freebmd and Freecen2 and the GRO site.

Maybe I should free trial them all, but that doesn't seem right
