Hi Ammack,
I did wonder this as I don't know when the Raaps came over from Germany. However, if Anna Boden was libing with Matthew in Glasgow at the time of the 1851 census, then I guess Andrew Raap married her in Scotland.
I have looked for Immigration records for Raap without success.
Altenstadt sounds like a good match for Alphinstart. I wonder how I can take that further?
Thanks for your input.

Thanks, Ecksdochter.
I have marriages to Anna Annacker in 1862 and to Susan Gunn in 1863.
Deaths I have Anna Raap - Andrew married Anna Bodden, nee Pillisher in 1856(she is a mystery as I can find no marriage to Andrew Raap recorded, though with help from MonicaL I think she was married before to Matthew Bodden, who died in 1852. They are together on the 1851 census)
Anna Annacker died in 1863
So that's 2 marriages and 2 deaths.
The mystery is the marriage to Anna Bodden in the statutory records, as this would give further information ie parents names and status ie whether she was a widow.
The possible earlier marriage between Anna Pillisher and Matthew Bodden (Baden) would have taken place before the 1851 census and therefore won't have a statutory record.

Any further help would be gratefully received!

Gosh, you are amazing. I am a relative (excuse the pun!) beginner at this.
I will see where all this takes me.
Thank you very much.

Thanks, Forfarian. Yes I did misunderstand you.
Does anyone know any other way to find the statutory record for a marriage that we can see in the RC records? ie Andrew Raap - Ann Bodden 21 May 1856?

Hi thanks for the quick reply.
I did mean the marriage entry.
Did you search with the Female surname Rap and forename Anna? and St Mary's Hamilton in the drop down menu, as I can't find the record at all.
Sorry to be a nuisance

Hi Fotfarian,
Thanks for this.
Where did you find this entry?
I just entered Anna Rap in the Scotlands Paople Catholic marriages and the dates 1856 - 1858, and it came up with no results.
Is it possible to send a link?
Thanks

Hi MonicaL.
The address on the 1862 Marriage cert to Anna Annacker is 64 King St, same as on her death certificate.
She was 29 when she died.
The address on the 1861 census is the same as on the 1862 death certificate for Anna Raap nee Pillisher (as they are German I guess it should be Pillischer)

Wow, you have done in one day what took me weeks!!!!!!
I have the certificate for the marriage to Susan Gunn:
31 August 1863
Andrew Raap/b aged 36 Widower, pork butcher. Parents Valentin and Helen.
These details tie in with the 1871 census in Over Cheshire, so I am sure he is the same man.
I believe that he previously married Anna Annacker on 29/7/1862.
The records show him as Andrew Raap, 35, widower, pork butcher , parents Valentin and Helen.
So, I am sure this is the same man.
His wife Anna died on 17 March 1863. Her parents names on the death entry are the same as on the wedding entry , so this is the same woman.
There is a death record for Andrew Raap child, stillborn on March 15 1863, 2 days before Anna died.
I then found a death record for Ana Raap (married to Andrew Raap, pork butcher) on 24 Jan 1862, parents John and Catherine Pillisher, but I can't find a record of their marriage on any site.
Then I found the Catholic entry as I first posted, recording a marriage to Anna Bodden on 21 May 1856.
I can't find a death certificate for her either.
If I could find the Stautory Record for either of these last 2 , Bodden and Pillisher, I could check parents names and be sure that in fact Andrew Raap was married 4 times!

I have found a record of a marriage in the Catholic Banns and Marriages section of the Scotland's People site but when I enter that information into the Statutory Marriage Register section of the same site, it comes up as no results found.
The marriage was between Andrew Raap and Ann Bodden (SCA Marriages MP 92141119-Glasgow St Johns)
I need to see the Statutory Record to get details of parents.
Can anyone help?
