Hi again
Think I got all I could out of the Infirmary records
First went to the Index Register of patients H38/SG/B/05/002 and found
Name: Louisa Croft
Description: Widow of Thomas a Painter
Born: 1828
Admitted: 27/3/90
Discharged 31/3/90 Died
so tried again with the Admission & Discharge Register H38/SG/B/01/007 and found
Admission
Date: 27 March
Day of Week: Thursday
Name: Louisa Croft
Calling: W of Thomas
Religious Persuasion: A
Born: 1828
Class for Diet: 6 *
Admission: Workhouse
* Class for Diet is defined as corresponding 'with the Diet Table in use at the Infirmary'
Discharge
Date 31 March
Day of Week: Monday
Last Meal before Discharge: D **
Name: Louisa Croft 61
Class for Diet: 6
How Discharged: Dead
** forgot to write down what this stood for
Just to see what was there, I tried the Creed Register H38/SG/B/02/004 which gave
Date of Entry: 27 March 1890
Date of Admission: 27 March 1890
Christian & Surname: Louisa Croft
From where admitted: Havil Street Workhouse ***
Religious Creed : Church of England
Name of Informant: Self
Discharged or Dead: Died 31 March 1890
*** which distinguishes it from the Gordon Road Workhouse
Armed with this I tried for CABG/173/007 Old and New Workhouses, Havil Street: Admission and discharge register 17/3/1889 - 1890
but got a Document Provision Query failure which the staff said might be because it's lost, being repaired etc
Will try again when I next visit but as the /006 register only goes up to 1869 there's no guarantee that we'll find out the admission date even if the register becomes available
