Thank you Rosie for the Hansard link, that was interesting reading.

And MaxD, I cant see anything in the service record on FindMyPast that gives any clues, I guess for now I will just record him as time served, until I find more info.

Hi whiteout.
Frank would have been 32 in 1939 and the record says he re-signed on 18 October 1939, so before conscription I think.

And yes, it looks like he served 9 years with the TA during peace years. I'd just like to find out if possible what that para 199 meant.

hi. im looking for some help regarding TA Army regulations in 1933.
Frank Bailey attested for the royal artillery in 1924.
he was discharged from service 18 may 1933 under para 199- (possibly time served?)
he rejoined in october 1939 for the R.A.S.C and is commemorated at Alamein Memorial, Egypt, died 11 june 1942.

The TA army regulations dont seem to be online so i cant find out exactly what para 199 says/means. He obviously wasnt injured as he was allowed to re-sign up.

can anybody help? tia

hi all.
The death certificate for this Felicia Hyde arrived today.

Felicia died the 18 January 1838 at Lawley Street, Parish of Aston.
Profession - Warehouse woman.
Cause of death- decline.
registered by Mother, Catherine Hyde of Lawley street, on 25 January 1838.

I guess this proves that Felicia is the daughter of Thomas and Catherine, even if no baptism can be found.

oh thanks BumbleB
I had missed the word 'decline'

yes I will buy the certificate, although that probably wont help with her baptism/birth.

Hi BumbleB

I did originally think that she was the legitimate child of George Perkin Hyde and Felicia his wife.
However, as you can see from the 1841 and 1851 census Maria's surname is just 'Perkin' (or Nerkin on FindMyPast)

George Perkin and Felicia Hyde did not marry, and Felicia Hyde died 1838.

This family certainly isn't a simple one that followed the rules of marriage then children anyway. :)
Perhaps George and Felicia were going to marry, but we'll never know.

hi ciderdrinker.

yes ive found the burial for Thomas Hyde in 1838. (abode Lawley Street not Livery street)

You mention Thomas's father also being Thomas, (died 1815) whose Will only mentions one grandson, James Newman.

I have arrived at a different conclusion, That Thomas (1770-1838) parents were an Edward and Elizabeth Hyde/Hide. Both born around 1744. Marriage 1769 at St Martins, By Licence.

I have based this conclusion on the fact that they also had a daughter named Felicia.
Phelitia Hide. bap 28 December 1770 @ St Peter and Paul.

This Felicia Marries John Houghton in 1791, also by licence.
They have 2 children,
Felicia Houghton    bap 2 june 1796 (Presbyterian.)
Vaughton Houghton.    bap 15 jan 1805. (Presbyterian)

The Vaughton name seems also to carry on in this family.

Which do you think is more likely?
