Technical Help / Re: Pop up Windows
« on: Friday 24 April 09 23:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi Chris

Thanks for this.  I had a look at all the programs installed and yes, there does seem to be an Apple Quicktime program although I have never been conscious of using it.  I was a bit scared to download something I didn't understand but you are probably right.

Technical Help / Pop up Windows COMPLETED
« on: Friday 24 April 09 02:03 BST (UK)  »
How do I get rid of an annoying pop up window that comes up on my screen whenver I go to use "My Pictures" - it asks me if I want to install now or later, something to do with an apple system which I don't use anyway.  The only way I can get it to go away is to say install later but of course it always comes back to haunt me again.  There must be a simple trick somewhere.

I would appreciate it if the name SUTCLIFFE could be looked up.  I have more than one Joseph and John Sutcliffe who died in Haworth/Bradford/Shipley/Keighley in West Yorks in the early to late 1800's.

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Roberts of Norwich
« on: Thursday 21 February 08 04:02 GMT (UK)  »
Has anyone come across the family of Roberts in Norwich.  In particular I am researching Maria Roberts, daughter of William and Amy Roberts who was born in 1795.  I found a marriage for Maria Roberts of Norwich in the FreeReg site to Henry Jecks (could be Jakes) Tuttle 28 November 1813 both of Norwich Parish.  I also found a birth of Henry Jecks Tuthill in 1821 in Bramfield Suffolk who could be a son but have found no evidence of other children.

I would be pleased to hear from anyone who can throw any additional light on these names.

A little further information has come to hand.  the father of Maria Nightingale Walthew was George Molyneux.  He was a hatter in Dublin and produced the coast guards caps and also was designated hatter to the Lord Ltnt of Ireland.  It has been suggested, although no proof, that George may have been the child of a younger son of the Earl of Sefton whose family name is Molyneux.  It will be interesting to follow up on this.  I also found a marriage on the GRO Ioanian Military Registrations 1818-1864, page 1 of 1, Hadaway-Herring on the "findmypast" site for Maria Hall, Dublin but could not find George Walthew.  My contact thinks they were married in 1833.

Thank you for this information.  No, I don't have the marriage of Maria who married Mathew Greenhill.  I have not been able to find any evidence of the marriage in England nor of her mother's marriage for that matter.   I live in New Zealand and was hoping to find Irish BMD's available online, alas I have not yet found what I am looking for.

Dublin / Birth Record, surname Walthew
« on: Wednesday 26 December 07 23:05 GMT (UK)  »
I am seeking the birth parents of Maria Nightingale Walthew who was born in Dublin c 1838.  I know that her mother was Maria Walthew (nee Hall) who was born in Gt Yarmouth in 1805 but the father of Maria Nightingale escapes me.  As I haven't been able to trace the family in England until 1881 it suggests to me that they may have been in Ireland prior to that.  Also I have not been able to trace any death records for Walthews in England and since Maria the mother was a widow in 1881 in England it is likely that the father of Maria Nightingale Walthew died in Ireland.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Leeds Parish Register Look-up please
« on: Sunday 18 November 07 04:16 GMT (UK)  »
If someone has access to the Leeds Parish Registers I would be obliged if they could look up a birth of Mary Rishworth born Leeds in 1802/3.  I know who her husband was but never found out who her parents were.  There was also a Thomas Rushworth born 1806 in Leeds who could have been a brother.  This has been an ongoing mystery for years and I would love someone to help me solve it! :(
