Also a Herbert and Jane Ann EGGINS at Alumny Creek - their children:

1865  Albert E
1867  Christian E
1870  Augustus W E
1872  Rebecca A
1875  Rachel Ethel  (died 1889 - https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/62108565)
1879  Robert Leslie
1884  George H

The young girl looks around 12 years old to me.
I think she looks a little more mature - perhaps closer to 15 years.

You could be right.  :-\

I'm not very good at dating photographs, Neale's suggestion of putting on the dating board is a good idea. The young girl looks around 12 years old to me.

Well found GR2, I spent quite some time yesterday pouring over old maps looking for it, but didn't see this one.  :)

Australia / Re: Census and immigration

Generally speaking the Australian census records that exist and are available are not as useful as those of the UK or USA. This gives a good overview:

The National Archives of Australia is a good source to start with for immigration

What names are you looking for? We may be able to help.  :D

I think:

... - as the charge
(excepting the storekeepers 1/2 salary) will
be Colonial

Modified:
Oh, I didn't realise this is more or less what shanreagh said.

Do you know what was John's occupation? It certainly is tricky with a common name.

I'm assuming neither of the parents turn up with or near children in the 1841 census?

I think it's "However, I might have subjected
myself to blame ..."

I did wonder last night whether the first word of the 2nd page was the same as the signature.  :-\

I just modified the above, I think it's "twelve privates" after sergeant.  :D
