So my great grandmas mum was Mary smith. Mary smiths parents were John smith and Ann hurst. Ann Hursts sister is the Eliza hurst that married Edward Bentley.

Hi all

I have just read this thread and realized I have this family on my tree. It's not a direct line to me, but the family connects to mine as I have Bentley's and Hurst's that marry into my Hartshorn line. I don't think I have anymore information than you have given.

Does the census give any inclination as to where in theddingworth the lodge is?

There is a listed building called Theddingworth lodge, which was a farmhouse, on the mowsley road.

Just another small note, theddingworth is in Leicestershire not Rutland

It looks like Eli and David are listed as Abode Hollowell on the baptism records. There are also other baptisms at the same time to an Eli and Mary Bosworth Abode Creaton

Plate layers are basic the guys who laid the track. It's derives from the time when the railways were called plateways and were built for use by the collieries to move coal to either the staithes on the river or to a canal basin for onward transportation by boat.

The railways on Anglesey were part of the LNWR by that time. It maybe worth contacting the LNWR society to see what employee records they have.
