Inverness / Re: Invergordon link - James 'Jim' WATKINS
« on: Thursday 30 July 15 10:19 BST (UK)  »
This is a very difficult one and I'm getting nowhere fast!
I see there was a William Jones, stepson to Frederick Watkins in 1901 and 1911. I presume this was Ann's son by another marriage. Do you know anything about that?
Perhaps this William Jones married after 1911 and you'd be able to get his details from that.
Will keep looking when I have time.

Hello again. There are quite a few James Watkins in the area. Were his parents Oliver and Priscilla by any chance. If so I still haven't found a Scottish connection but I may well be looking at the wrong family.

What were the names of his parents as that would be a help to finding the link. Thank you.

Hello AncesStory,
I haven't time to pursue this at the moment as it would take some time trying to follow up the different children. This is just a long shot but there was a Forbes Craighead born in 1821, St Cuthberts, Edinburgh to James Craighead and Mary Gow. Other children with similar names to your family are there too plus one or two others. Some of the dates are a bit out but near enough to be possible. Sorry if this leads you down the wrong path but it's worth a try.

US Lookup Requests / Re: David Stephen Dillon - Mystery

The online record only gives the information I gave earlier plus that it is recorded in volume 1;  page 17; index volume number 88. Not sure if that will help. The details are the same for both.

This is the link to find out how to order marriage certificates.

Sorry, there was no question about marital status on either card.

Re marriage: from Massachusetts, Marriage Index, 1901 - 1955 David Dillon and Mary T Doherty have the same reference no which is F63.m36v88, therefore she must have been his wife as the other Mary has a different reference number. The year was 1923 and marriage was Boston, Mass. As it is only an index no other information was added.

I think the year could have been 1888 as first 8 was unclear. Still out a bit but as you say, that happened.
