Re James Thomas. He appears in three censuses, the ages all vary, and so does his place of birth - Cydweli (Kidwelly) is another alternative. He was certainly a nonconformist later in the 1800s so that is another issue.

Thanks again for looking.

Not wanting to hijack posters thread, but if you give me details Hinso, will take a look.

Rejoices in the name of James Thomas. He lived out most of his life over the mountain in Betws parish. I have his marriage but the format used in the register did not record father's name.

Hopefully, but without a bapt no link

Llangyfelach baptisms would be useful to me as well. My 3xg grandfather was supposedly born in the parish around 1800. Solid brick wall at the moment.

The Llangyfelach baptism records available on familysearch.org/findmypast start in 1813.

The Letters of Administration refer to James Jenkins as being late of Morriston. He was a widower.

In the 1841 census there is a James Jenkin(s) aged 71 in Morriston (a Sayer?) with a wife named Ann, also 71.

The GRO index shows the death of an Ann Jenkins in Swansea Union in March Q 1845 aged 75.
(Volume 26  Page 402.

Also in the same or adjacent location, there is what looks like Ann Truscott aged 7 and a number of other people, icluding several Jenkin(s).

Our messages crossed. I edited the last one to show his death on the GRO index.

As you were Diane. His name was James Jenkins not John. My mistake.

The General Register Office index shows a death for a James Jenkins in 1845 S Quarter in Swansea Union Volume 26 Page 310 aged 75.

Hannah Truscott, wife of George Truscott, applied for Letters of Administration for her father John Jenkins's estate in 1851. She explained that her only brother (a batchelor not named) was in America when John Jenkins died intestate in 1845. The brother had since died in America, hence the delay in application.
