Hi everybody.
I've reached a bit of a brick-wall in my research, so I thought I'd see if any kind souls on the Rootschat boards have any ideas that I don't (many heads being better than just one)
I've got a christening for a Charles Tipper, 1793, Rogate, Sussex off the IGI. His parents were James Tipper and Elizabeth - for whom I have many other children, christened between 1782-1803. The family seems to, by-and-large, have stayed in Rogate - as most of his sons appear there on the 1841 and 1851.
Bearing this in mind, I think James Tipper's burial could be in this thread
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,251471.0.html - the one aged 64 in 1821. The James Tipper aged 40 in 1823 is a son. I haven't had any luck finding the marriage of James and Elizabeth, or any possible christening. Haven't had any luck with a will for James either, but that could largely be down to being thousands of kilometres away from the records in Australia.
The Tipper name in Sussex seems to go back further than the late 18th C but at this stage I feel pretty stuck. I know it's possible that the records I need just aren't there, but .... any ideas?
Thanks
TN
