To Whiteout7,

Do you live in Hull?  Do you happen to know what is the current use of 14 Mersey Street?  Does it still even exist?

To Whiteout7,

That is pretty good information and I have checked out the photo with family photos of the people I am trying to help.  It's a match!

This is definitely the man I am looking for.  He is one of a six man crew; they all survived the war and spread themselves across the country.  One of them even went to live in Largo, Florida, USA but left very little behind in terms of documented evidence.

You say, quite correctly, that he is well documented - but only for a couple of short term actions!  In your words "Pretty cool"  By the time I have finished, I hope you will be able to say "Ice cool" or "Super cool"  because there was a lot more to the man - and to the whole crew.

Anyway, thanks for your information.

To Whiteout7,

In your first post you mentioned that his middle name may be Jozef.  This is far from the first suggestion of that fact and I know that he would have to give his full name on an application for naturalisation so I believe that it is correct.  Thank you for your help.

To Crisane,

Sorry, I meant to also thank you for the information about his marriage - that was completely new to me and will be very useful in my investigation.

To Crisane,

Thank you, I was aware of that but he died in 2002 so I am excluded from his records as I am not family; I am helping the family of one of the men who was in his air crew during the war.  But thank you for taking the trouble to try to help me.

Can anyone please suggest where I might search for information on a wartime refugee from Poland who became an airman and stayed on in the RAF until 1974.

His name was Tadeusz Boba and he was a pilot with 304 Squadron

He retired to East Yorkshire and died on 4th August 2002; he was cremated at Hull

Many thanks

Thank you barryd, for the photograph of Stanislaw Mazur vel Butynski.  He has changed a lot since he was a young airman!  AlthoughI just live across the valley from where he was married, I found out about him (and got a copy of his wedding photograph) on a visit to the aviation museum in Krakow, Poland.

Thanks to glencare and nanny jan, the speed of your responses was amazing.  I live just a few miles from Gateshead so I can pick up a certificate in person.  Many thanks to you both
