"Lulan" 1848 S.Uist
at least 24 died of 'smallpox' after the sailing to Pictou. They had to be quarantined for something like 90 days.
S. Uist was relatively untouched by this dreaded disease, it is believed to have been brought on board at one of the other stops in Scotland. Pei recorded the names because of a dispute with Nova Scotia over who would pay the head tax.

Annie,
If you have any names or families you want me to check on, I could have a look, especially Prince Edward Island

I got a copy of "Glenaladale settlers 1772" today ,it lists a lot of the families that came over with John Macdonald in that year.

MACLURE dna
I would be willing to pay the costs for a male Maclure to have their dna tested who is descended from someone in the Glenelg area . I could not accept Skye as it is thought Maclures from there are not related to those on the mainland. If someone matches me then that in itself could prove we are not related to Skye.
It is believed my ancestor left with Alexander Macleod in 1793 on "the Argyll"
I could only afford one test.

Annie,
Lists of passengers are rare on this side of the pond. Only 11 are known to exist of passage from Scotland.
I have seen attempts to reconstruct lists by gathering information from various sources such as gravestones where it states " a native of South Uist". This has been done for the "Alexander" in 1772. I believe there were 11 families in the Boisdale estate
I have not seen it done for the 1790
voyage.
These were from the  "Lucy" and "Jane"
South Uist

Frobost, S. Uist (5)
Stonebridge, South Uist (2)
Ardgasrig (4)
Askernich (4)
Ardnagrig (1)
Kildounain (5)

Annie, no solid evidence. They were Catholic but could have been from anywhere.
MacEachern kept in touch with a Walker lad who was a stowaway on the ship that brought them. He paid the young mans passage and they remained friends.
It was a very small community where they settled on Pei. 3 families on 20,000 acres in 1798. Neighbors as I mentioned included Walker who got on in S. Uist, Macdonalds , MacPhee, MacCormack all S. Uist, Morrison, Campbell
They built a crude church from logs and called it St Michaels.

Annie,
The Alexander is the ship Angus Maceachern's father Hugh and family came over on.
Angus was 14 in 1772 and stayed behind to be trained in the priesthood.
He came in 1790 with 230 more settlers, but the name of the ship is not known.
