Hi

In researching my family tree, i have discovered that my 6th g grandmother was Betty Collard B 1738 in Wiviscombe, Somerset. I have seen conflicting trees that state she was married to John Hill or Richard Hill 1732 - 1809 or both!!!

I have not managed to obtain any concrete evidence for any of this!!  ???

Any ideas

Regards

Ruth

Hi

I have just started researching another branch of my family tree.

I have got back to Henry Baugh born in Marden in 1565 down to Elizabeth Baugh born 1819. She married into the Richings family and was my g g grandmother.

Just wondered if anyone had any further info regarding them and why they moved to South Wales.

Thanks

Ruth

Hi

Just found a Johan Johansen on the 1881 England and Wales census for 1871  :D

His birth given as 1854 born in Norway, occupation given as  A B Seaman in Cardiff, Glamorgan South Wales. Now this could tie in with Johan meeting my great great grandmother Mary E Davies (Trewartha )!! They married in 1883 in Wales.

Also.. England and Wale s1871 census for a Johan Jensen same birth year and born in Svelvig, Norway. Again he is documented as seaman in Stepney, Ratcliff, Middlesex, London.

There is a possibility that these documents are pertaining to my great grandfather but still no concrete proof as no evidence of Oliver as his father!!!  :-\

Craclyn you could be right.. the handwriting is difficult to read so this could be a possibility. He was definitely a seaman as its documented on his marriage cert.

Hi Craclyn

I have come across something similar to this in the 1871 census. Ship docked at Newport South Wales. Ship name Sjomenden?? aged 20 born in Norway. This would make his birth year 1851! His marriage cert gives his age of 30 in 1883 in South Wales

Sibling names I'm not sure, however, a lot of what this relative has said has had some degree of accuracy so far. Unfortunately I do not have a birth certificate which would answer a lot of ? I'm sure. The 'story' goes that John was born not far from Oslo on a small farm.
