Strange when I Googled Theodosia Maurice nee Bache this page came up but I have not been able to spot an entry for her and her husband Samuel Maurice. Samuel was born possibly in Warwickshire in 1773. My interest is in researching my ancestors the Baches. The Baches were nonconformists in Shropshire and Herefordshire. Theodosia was from the Bridgnorth area of Shropshire.

I am trying to find Theodosia Tilt who married Thomas Bache. Someone has Theodosia born in 1736 in the line of Alice Tilt of Bromsgrove who had a son Caleb Tilt who married Ann Barker in 1636. I am researching the Baches so have more information about them.

Yes the marriage certificate is the only conclusive way to go now.  :)

I only considered Emma might also be known as Emily when I found  Emily and William Howells living in Mill Street. I was surprised as I had only ever known her from birth as Emma. Perhaps she did not tell her husband her correct age. Many did not as we know.

Thank you for your reply and help. I have now worked out it was not my Emma who became a Hammond. My Emma sometimes used the first name Emily and married John Watkins in Ludlow in 1893. In 1902 she married William Howells in Hereford. I think she died in Ludlow in 1945.

Sorry I seem to have missed the replies.
I was looking at Emma Handley again yesterday and found someone had their different Emma Handley married to James Hammond. I am now uncertain of my facts from when she was at home with her parents in 1871 onwards.  Emma Handley was born 07 April 1864 and now I have found an Emma Howells. a widow, born 07 April 1864 living in 36 Mill Street, Ludlow in 1939. In 1911 this address is occupied by a William and Emily Howells both born about 1870. So did Emma go to Cheshire? I have tried to find a marriage for Emily and William and a possible marriage for Emma to a Mr Howells without any success.
The other Emma Handley was born about 1866 in Old Wood, Tenbury to George Handley and Catherine Passey. I think that might be a better fit to the Hammond family than my great aunt Emma but cannot find any other records/sources for mine. I would appreciate any more thoughts as I have spent hours seemingly going round in circles. Thank you for the help so far.

Thank you for trying to help. I think he may have been a lot older than I thought as it seems like he may have had another family following a marriage to Sarah Garton in Derby in 1802. He may have been in the Royal Horse Artillery and while in it had a couple of sons in Woodbridge, Suffolk. The next son of this marriage was born in Birmingham in 1816. I am only just investigating this new information but am still none the wiser regarding his birth and death. Barbara :)

My 2nd Great Grandmother was Sarah Coley. She was born in Willenhall, Staffordshire in 1836 to Joseph Coley and Hannah nee Brindley. They married in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire in 1833. They had three children. Hannah and a new baby died in 1841 and a two or three year old boy Joseph died the following year so Sarah was raised by members of the Brindley family. In 1841 the Coley family were living in Staniforth Street, Birmingham and Joseph was an Iron Caster. I have been unable to find Joseph prior to his marriage and after the 1841 census. In 1841 he is described as being 35 years old and not being from Warwickshire. I have seen the Banns for his marriage to Hannah but no clues there as to his family. I have DNA matches to the family of Ephraim Coley and Ann Fisher but despite trying for a long time have been unable to establish the connection. Does anyone have my Joseph in their family? I originally thought he was the Joseph Coley born in 1802 but although probably related it was not him.
