Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: small notation

it is part of a death certificate. It is a small notation next to the details about the deceased's father. The date may indicate his date of death, which would be helpful as it would assist with locating the right family. Donna.

looking at the note next to the end of Evans. I think it may say "Arle 10/7/83" but I'm not at all sure. Any help would be really appreciated. Donna.

Anglesey Lookup Requests / William Evans b 1829 Anglesey
« on: Sunday 15 March 15 11:36 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for information of the family of William Evans and Ellen Owens, Anglesey. I am searching with clues of information, nothing concrete like the name of a town! I would appreciate any information and/or help, as it may help me to connect the dots.

William Evans was born Anglesey, 1829.
Parents: William Evans, miner and  Ellen/Ellin Owens

He was apparently British Merchant Seaman ? year of apprenticeship

Arrived in Australia in 1850's as ships crew.
Worked within Australian waters for a time before officially emigrating 1858 taking government position ?customs boat Williamstown, Melb.

Married, Geelong, Vic. Children's names (which may be family names) - first born Thomas, second Mary Ellen, (spouse's mother recorded as Mary), William James, Kathrine Elizabeth (spouse Irish lass, Catherine/Kathrine), and Henry.

On his death certificate in 1885, beside the details of his father is a notation, 10/7/83 which may imply the date of his fathers death. (wish I could see how to attach)  there is also a name ?town next to date) ?Arle ?Aile

Hi Jean, There are lots of photos of the Doble family at The Bellarine Historical Society, Drysdale, Victoria, Aust. They have a great 'research officer', see website for form. I had a look through them and couldn't see any indexed under Page Doble.
Photos are indexed as:
A. Doble, Gunner, Royal Victorian Volunteer Artillery
Al Doble, circa 1921 Drysdale Methodist Church Group
Albert Doble, pictured with children Eunice, Jack, Don, Ethel and wife Rachel
The Doble family of Drysdale, pic of very young family
Eunice Doble, The Hancock family of Drysdale
Eunice Whitcombe (nee Doble)
Doble J, Drysdale football club, 1919
Doble J, Drysdale Football club, 1920
Doble J, Drysdale Methodist church, class of 1912
Doble J, opening new sunday school building, 1912
Doble J, Drysdale football club, 1926
Doble John Reginald, pic with wife Rachel at family homestead

I hope this helps,

thank you very much Mair and Huwcyn. Both bits of information - together are very interesting. I've discovered there were far too many William Evans' and Ellen (+variants of Ellin/Eleanor) Owens in Wales in 1829!
Does Ty'n Y Lon make reference to where Ellen was from or is it Welsh for Owens?
