Hi Orkneytrinidad

Anthony Fouchard is my 3 Grt Grandfather and have just come across this post
My grandmothers maiden name was Fouchard, daughter of William Thomas Fouchard and Mary Jane Wadsworth (Mary Jane I am still looking for)

Always on the lookout for info or anything at all to do with the Fouchard Family, so would also be very interested in a photo of the watch if at all possible

Kind Regards
EddieW

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Smith - Clarvis marriage lookup please
« on: Wednesday 10 June 15 08:41 BST (UK)  »
Thomas Smith of Winterton and Elizabeth Clarvis of Hull were married at the Holly Trinity Hull on 13 Dec 1786
Does anyone have access to these records to see if Thomas and Elizabeth signed or used their mark
Who the witness were, maybe a remote chance Elizabeth's sister or brother was a witness to help find her parents

Thank you in advance

Just going off the age you put in your PM were you said they were both 22 but a year doesn't make a lot of difference
Elizabeth's death I have as 7 Jan 1811 age 45 so that works out to 1766 the year Elizabeth Clervis of Alkborough was born and it doesn't get much closer than that
William was the first childs name born 1787 Burton upon Stather and died 1792 Winterton so could be named after Elizabeth's father

The 1766 Elizabeth would be my pick at the moment, would be easier for her to pass as 22 than the 1769 (17yr old)
William John and Mary are children's names in the family so could be the two Elizabeth's are cousins as you say
I still think it unusual that Elizabeth is the mother of the family and yet there is no Elizabeth in the children
There is a William Clervas on Family Search buried 1 Jan 1829 in Hull that could be the father but that would put him in his 80s

Lincolnshire / Looking for Ann Smith
« on: Saturday 25 October 14 13:41 BST (UK)  »
Looking for the Christening of Ann Smith born about 1790 Winterton, married Edward Neale 15 Dec 1812
Her parents Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Clarvis were married in Hull 12 Dec 1786
The first child to Thomas and Elizabeth I have is William 13 Dec 1787 Burton Upon Stather who died 16 Oct 1792 Winterton then John14 Nov 1790 Winterton and then Thomas 3 Apr 1792 and William 24 Aug 1794 so hard to fit her in between those unless Elizabeth was close to having a child when they married

Thank you

Can anyone help please
Looking for the Parents and Christening of Elizabeth Clarvis age 22 of Hull who married Thomas Smith age 22 of Winterton on the 12th Dec 1786 at the Holy Trinity Hull

The only Elizabeth Clervis on Family Search Org was Chr 5 Jan 1766 in Alkborough Lincoln, father William, close to the age she should be but I think there has to be more than one Elizabeth Clarvis around the area

Thank you

Hi Tracey
Sorry for the delay in answering, been kind of buzzy but hadn't forgotten you
Our line is from Rachel Heath Chr 16 Jan 1825, our 2xgg mother, which is Williams sister, we will be cousins but I never could work out how the 2nd, 3rd or 4th cousins work out.
Rachel married William Haines, not sure yet what the story of their marriage is as Rachel was from Aldworth Berkshire, William was from Checkendon Oxford and they married in Lambeth London 8 April 1850 then jumped on the ship Sophia and arrived in Fremantle Western Australia on the 27 July 1850
They sure didn't let any grass grow under their feet as the journey to Australia in those days took 3mths or more depending on the weather
You can PM me if you like through my profile page and we can exchange info

Shropshire Completed Look up Requests / Re: 1841 look up please
« on: Monday 04 August 14 13:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Thanks for replying, still haven't got very far with the birth of Thomas and his family in Shropshire
Had eliminated the Thomas from Dawley Magna as the one in the 1841 census born 1813 was close enough as ages go in the census to be the one I had born 1811.
Now that you have given me the death of Thomas born 1812 at Preston upon The Weld Moors that also eliminates him.
The Thomas born in 1808 although a bit early was the only one I could see that was not in the census so every possibility it was him but now Thomas Chilton Chr 26 Apr 1807 is another possibility but starting to get a bit early for his birth year as at his trial in 1835 he was 23 and marriage in 1844 he was 32, so my question now is was the 1807 Thomas in the 1841 census, if so that would eliminate him also.
Our Thomas at his trial was listed as a Chimney Sweep and Farm Labourer, do you have anyone on your records that would fit that category.
Thanks
Eddie

Lancashire / Re: William Wadsworth, Cotton waste dealer

Hi
Never saw a sun in Lancashire strong enough to go to your head before I left lol, was born there in a little place called Milnrow, but from the weather reports I see from time to time on the news global warming is probably affecting you as it is us,
I did have a laugh and then thought of all the time you must have put in on my behalf and then felt a little guilty, I can sympathise with you though as i have also gone down a couple of wrong paths and spent quite some time thinking I had the right family only to come across information that tells you no that can't be them
Would not have surprised me though if it had been transcribed as Wallworth or Wallsworth, you couldn't imagine what her husbands surname Fouchard was transcribed as at times, not blaming the transcribers they do a good job just the style of writing or poor writing of the time
May have to get that death certificate but never have been keen on spending money on them because there never seems to be much info on them, now if it was an Australian death cert that would be different they give you the whole family just about and where from and who married too and how long, parents, children and how many children deceased etc
Thanks for all your help, just another brick wall to keep banging my head against
Regards Eddie
