Did you find out what became of her children   including the wood collecting one .

Did they marry ?

Esther/Hester/Hestin, the daughter who damaged underwood, married Isaac Turton.  They had several children.  I think she had a younger sister called Charlotte who married George Mathews but I haven't found any children for them.  Esther and Charlotte are together on one census (Charlotte is visiting) and later on Harriet is with Charlotte and her husband (hence how I linked them up and noticed neither had a father named at their baptism, and then I found the other three siblings).

I'm not sure what happened to the other three siblings - John (1832), Mary (1829) and Sarah Maria (1815), but am curious.  It would be unlikely they all survived to adulthood.  John did survive to adulthood but John Hillier is not an uncommon name in Wiltshire.

I think Harriot would be from Co Clare, and that may be where the O'Dell comes from.  There were quite a few Odells (no apostrophe) around Limerick.

Oops - sorry - I see now that you've tried that link.

With roses round the cottage door and chickens running around the garden?  ;D

Something like that.  So I was curious as to why a couple of their daughters left this idyllic lifestyle for Southwark/Horsleydown.

Thank you for the website merrick7.   I didn't know about it, and it's better than the searchable indices on FindMyPast or Ancestry because you can search for witnesses/sponsors.

Thanks for the link aghadowey.  My knowledge of the geography of Ireland is increasing bit by bit.

The "PLU" for both Annascaul and Inch is Dingle, so that doesn't rule these two elderly women out.

The will of an ancestor of mine who died in 1860 wasn't proven until the 1880s.

Thank you.

Would you happen to know the area the Dingle registration district covered?  Would deaths in Inch or Annascaul have been registered there?

Edited to add - I think the answer is n the same website Sinann gave the link for.

I've noticed the death of a woman in 1871 registered in Dingle, Co Kerry on the Irish Genealogy website that might be relevant.

Would it tell me her maiden name (if she was married) or parents' names or anything else that might be useful?

Thank you very much Lu for working out who the other nieces and nephews are.

Between:
- her burial record saying she is Australian
- all the beneficiaries of her will being grandchildren of John Benson and Catherine Ryan
- John Benson and Catherine Ryan having a daughter called Catherine who is the same age as the woman who married William Morement (based on the intention to marry record)
it seems very unlikely that Mrs Morement is the daughter of George Thomson and Helen Leadbetter.
