After selecting the 3 dots, the "pin this page to start" options is under " More Tools"

Hi,

You can see the individual service for HMS Easton here
https://www.naval-history.net/xGM-Chrono-10DE-HMS_Easton.htm

And you can see the convoy dates for HMS Swale here (there is no individual service for this ship on this site)

https://www.naval-history.net/xDKEscorts15Fr-River3.htm

You will have to match up your father's service dates with the above to see if he qualifies. If he does match up and you have his service number, then it's just a case of filling out the medal application form, sending it off and waiting.

London and Middlesex / Re: St Martin in the Field burial record
« on: Saturday 04 April 20 21:08 BST (UK)  »
I think it's the burial ground where the interment took place. There were several for the church during the 18th and start of the 19th century. NOG would be the New Old burial Ground, and TG (not SG see the S in Sarah and St on the image) would be the Tavistock burial Ground (in Drury Lane).

Occupation Interests / Re: brass moulder - tinker?
« on: Friday 20 March 20 21:48 GMT (UK)  »
Wasn't aware that there was anything such as a Brass moulding Factory. A Brass Moulder (and also Iron Moulders) typically worked in Foundries or large engineering companies (train works for example) making moulds into which the molten metal was poured. It was at the higher end of the skill set in a foundry. Maybe they made the moulds for the foundries. I doubt there was a connection to Tinkers.

After I first posted I thought maybe you'd ask this, so I had another look. If you select Tools/Re-Order out-of-sequence events, it brings up a dialogue box. I've not used this before, but if you check the box 'Prompt for confirmation before each update' and run that, it looks like it will do what you want. If you don't check the box, it'll take you through each entry one at a time. It does allow you to check the order of other things, not just children's dates

Select a parent in the Focus view then select Edit then from the dropdown select Re-Order Events by date. It will then order all the children in date order.

I would be interested to know how GRO has interpreted your certificates, Simon and Anthony. Is it the proper surname or the occupation?

Regards Margaret
The ones I have show the mother's name and following underneath the occupation. Two are separated with a drawn line or dash, others just written following the name with no such separation, although to be fair they are clearly occupations, no one's name was interpreted as Stay Maker or China Factory Worker.

I have a number of certificates from around this time for unmarried mothers. All have an occupation added after the mother's name, so I would agree with AntonyMMM that she stated that she was or claimed to be a potter at the time.
