Thank you Jim. It certainly looks like a piece of copper but I'm happy to accept it may be tin. Great news on the date as it fits in with the likely ancestor's dates. I thought it possibly an earlier style.

The photo of this lady is on thin copper sheet. My mother remembers being told more than once that it a photo of her great grandmother. We think the most likely candidate is Mary PINK (nee ABBOTT) who was born in 1854. If so, this probably dates the photo to the mid - late 1880s yet the photo appears to be earlier to me. I would welcome some opinions as to date please.
The 'bow' on her blouse was added by myself when a child. :( Please could somebody attempt to remove it?

Wow! That is amazing!! Thank you so much Caz. I shall email a copy to my mum. She will be thrilled as well. Her dad (Walter Freed) is the youngest child in the photograph.
I hadn't noticed the picture on the locket Amy wears. It looks like a woman in the locket picture. I shall now go through the photos my mother has and see if I can see anyone similar.

Please will someone do some repair work on this photograph of Ernest, Amy, Charlie and Walter FREED? It was taken in Dartford, Kent about 1909. Walter is my grandfather.
