Pembrokeshire / Re: Blethyn Family
« on: Thursday 23 March 06 17:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,  I don't know anything about them but I do have a certificate of a Ann Blythyn's marriage to a William Tucker and a certificate of their daghter Mary,   I thought they were my ancestors but they turn out, not  to be, my ancestors names were John Tucker and a Ann Hall and their daughter's name was Mary, so you can see the slip up I had.  William & Ann Blythyn came from  Stackpole Elidor ( so did mine ) and they were married 1829 their daughter Mary was born 1831 at the same place.

If you want I can send you these certificates if they are in your family, let me know if you want them.

I am searching for my ancestors of the surname Griffiths, he is a William Griffiths born about 1829 St Twinnells or possible in Monkton, his wifes name was Jane and was born in Narberth about 1830 ( Surname unknown, but would love to know ) they had about 12 children ranging from 1853-1877 my ancestors name was a Martha Griffiths born 1860/1861 St Florence.  Could anybody help me to find out a bit more about them. I have all the names of the children if that would help.  Thank you very much,

Hello Sue,

Thank you for the link,  I have been on there before & found the marriage of John & Ann Tucker  & a definit birth date for their daughter, even possible dates for her siblings, the only shame is, is that I have been unable to find the two birth dates for the married couple  & even some death dates, but I am grateful for what I got, I did e-mail & had an e-mail back from a Gentleman & he said that they were hoping to put the St Micheal or St Mary ( not sure which ) index down, but it looks like they haven't got round to doing it yet, which is a shame because I think there would be quite a few entries there that would interest me.

Thank you once again Sue for your help.  Rhian

Glamorganshire / Re: Maiden's from Penrhiwceiber near Mountain Ash

Hello Jan,

This is what I got, Starting with Robert Henry Maiden, he was age 26 on his marriage certificate in 1907 at Bedwellty, Monmouthsire, he was a miner and his fathers name was Arthur Maiden but was deceased at the time of marriage, he too was a miner,  Robert's wife was called Jannett Williams & she was born in Liverpool, her father William Humphrey Williams came from Merioneth and her mother  Lucy Ann Naylor came from London NK, they were also on the marriage certificate as their witnesses.

Robert & Jannett had moved to Penrhiwceiber, they had at least 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl,  my Grandfathers name was Edward John and he was born in 1912.

Robert died in 1962 Penrhiwceiber, apparently the Goverment tried to find his birth certificate & failed.  My father seams to think that their were sisters to Robert but he can't remember their names.

I have tried to find Robert on the Free BMD, 1901 census and the 1881 cenus. there have been one family that popped up on the 1881 & 1891 census but I have not got definit evidence that these are anything belonging to mine, they are Robert Maden age 3  Oakham, Rutland and again in the 1891 census but now his surname is Maiden.

If anyone can help  I will be very grateful as this family is holding me back.  Thank you very much.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / 1871 census ( & before ) Arthur Maden

Hello, I am new to this list so please forgive me for any erros I might do, thank you.  I have been trying for a very long time to find my fathers Grandfather but  I am having no luck at all, him & his family are the only ones I am stuck on and would love to go further down the line.

This is the only real information that I have on him is,  he was married to a Jannett Williams in Bedwellty, Monmouthshire, on the 28th Sept 1907 he was living  with her and the family at 44, Church Street, Aberbargoed when he got married, he was age 26 and worked as a Collery Repairer, his fathers name was Arthur Maiden & he too was a Miner but was deceased at the time of marriage.  Robert died in 1962 Penrhiwceiber near Mountain Ash age 81, so if my sums are correct I have got him being born about 1881.

The only Robert I can find with a father called Arthur is this family in the 1881 census,   in Leicester, England Source FHL Film 1341748  PRO Ref RG11 Peice 3138 Folio 13 Page 20.

Arthur Maden age 31 from Dorchester, Clay Miner,
Elizabeth age 26 Wigan,
William age 7 York,
Elizabeth age 5 Ashby Z,
Robert age 3 Oakham, Rutland
Caroline age 2m Ashby Z.

In the 1891 census there is a family living in Coity, Bridgend, Wales with the surname Maiden & not Maden, there are a few changes more but I think it's the same family.

In 1901 I can not find any of the family but in 1907  Robert pops up in Monmouthshire on his marriage certificate.

What I am asking is, if anybody can help me find this ancestor & his family, I have tried & failed but I am hoping that someone may have new ideas of how to find this family, I will be so grateful and it will be lovely to tell my father that his Grandfather has been found.  Thank you for your help.
