Buckinghamshire / Children of Herbert Timms & Harriet Betts-Long Crendon
« on: Friday 20 June 14 01:53 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone working on this family? I have info for 10 children and wonder if there were more? The eldest one I have is Gertrude, b. 1886 and the youngest Lilian, b. 1903.
Thanks!

Oxfordshire / William Timms b. 1815 Tetsworth
« on: Friday 20 June 14 01:36 BST (UK)  »
Forgive me please if this has already been posted by someone but the 'Search' feature is not working.
Does anyone have info on the parents of the William Timms (1815-1899) who married Susanna(h) Hounslow? William was a blacksmith as were many of his descendants. The census says he was born in Tetsworth. Someone posted on the Long Crendon website that there is a picture of him in the Churchill Arms there. His son Herbert did live there.
Any help appreciated!

Durham / George Morrison of Heworth (1700's)
« on: Saturday 11 January 14 00:27 GMT (UK)  »
Now that I have it sorted out that Heworth is in Durham rather than Northumberland I shall post on the appropriate board :)
Is it likely that I can find out where a George Morrison was born around 1734? He married Jane Bainbridge in Gateshead in 1758 and their children were born in Heworth. George died in South Blyth, Northumberland in 1822; I don't know when or where Jane died.
Where George was born is of particular interest because we are trying very hard to find out when he, or his ancestors, left Scotland.
Any suggestions?

Thank you, Trish! I think Barbara Ogle's mother was Elizabeth Jubb. I am guessing there were more children than these as none seem to have been born in the 1780's but it's hard to know for sure. I certainly appreciate your help!!

Thanks again!! Would you take it that the name of the ship is "The William"? Sorry to be so dense  :(

Thanks for checking! I expect there are many, many burials without headstones although you'd think a ship owner might have one for the family. Maybe it has become illegible over the years.

I cant find any Morrisons , graves/headstones in St Albans, even though the Transcripts state they are buried there,

Janis, thank you yet again! You're very generous in sharing info from your resources not to mention the time you have taken.
It had always been thought that these Morrison's were from Scotland, not England, and if so, they must have migrated south a very long time ago. We thought the one who first came to Nova Scotia from this family (James Ogle Morrison) was likely born in Scotland but are seeing this is NOT so. I'm guessing that even the George Morrison b. abt. 1734 who died in 1822 (grandfather of James) was a native of Northumberland County too so now we have to readjust our whole idea of the family's background :)

Thank you William & 'Radcliff'; you help those of us who know so much less about resources to learn where to go! Much appreciated.
