Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Re: William Terry - Alverstoke/Portsea

Have you tried the spelling of Terrey. I have an Ann (or Mary Ann) Terrey christened St Marys, Portsea 22 April 1792. She married  my great, great grandfather George Bettesworth andthey appear to have lived in Westbourne, Sussex once they were married, then moved to Hayling Island in Hampshire. Their first child William was born in 1820. Do you think there could be a connection?

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Bettesworth Family
« on: Friday 04 November 05 03:45 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching the Bettesworth family of Hayling Island, Hampshire and Sussex. My grandfather was George Bettesworth (b.1854 Hayling Island) and my grandmother was his second wife Lizzie Emma Bills (b.1869 in Clerkenwell, London). As my grandfather had 24 children by his two wives I'm sure there must be someone out there who is researching the same family. Would love to exchange information.

Hampshire & IOW Completed Lookup Requests / Re: ALLEN - PORTSEA 1866
« on: Friday 04 November 05 03:33 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Jedida Bettesworth b 1827 in my tree who married a Thomas Allen and they lived in Portsea.  Thomas died sometime before 1881 as in the 1881 Census Jedida is a widow. She had at least two children, Emily (b1852) and William(b1859) Allen and a grandchild Emily Allen (b1872). The elder Emily married someone named Burnaby and they had a child called William in 1881. Do you think there could be any connection?

Was interested in the Pink/Binstead connection. My research is the Bettesworth family of Hampshire/Sussex. There are two families of this name one with ancestors called William Pink Bettesworth (2 generations) and William Thomas Pink Bettesworth. There is also a connection with the Binstead area of Sussex and another member of the family has Binstead as his middle name. Wonder if there is a connection. So far I've only found Pinks on Hayling Island near Portsmouth.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Marriage lookup Westbourne pre 1800
« on: Friday 28 October 05 01:26 BST (UK)  »
If possible, could someone near Westbourne look to see if they can find a marriage between William Bettesworth (or Betsworth) who married a lady called Jedida(h) sometime prior to 1793 when their first son George was born. Apparently Jedida was born in Westbourne but there is some confusion about William's birthplace. Birth dates not know. Death dates William 1840 and Jedida 1842 both in Westbourne. Thank you.  Suepernz
