A tree on Ancestry shows Walter James Allen was born 6/8/1906 Rickmansworth (which came under Watford regn. district) to William Allen and Emily Ann Young who married 34/1904 Kilburn.

Annette

If they are still alive, please don’t name them.
The name was none of those - perhaps a brother to Walter but as long as you have the right family.
Hopefully, you can now send off for Walter's record.
Best wishes
Eeeks didn't think of that, I have edited it. What was the other name on there? it is sad of what happened to him his son was only young when he died. The problem with the Army records is they need service number, but there are about 5 with the same name that I have found, I have eliminated 2 that were KIA but the others I am not sure about.

I was just checking re the electoral registers.
Queenie is on her own from c 1950 on the registers so it looks to be your family.
Was there a son? There is someone of the same surname living there at one point.
A possible marriage follows for Queenie.

At first I thought Walter had died during /just after the war. That was why I was asking the questions.  :)
, Yes she later married albert Lawrence 1956

His service records will still be with the MOD - as are those for anyone serving after 1920.
They will not be online anywhere!

See: https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records

As he died from war injuries, there should be no need for a death certificate.
But there will still be a fee of £30.
Thank you so much for that

There is an electoral register for the address you give
1939 Queenie Cecilia Allen and Walter James  Allen.

There are later entries for a different address for Queenie C and Walter J - would they be the same family?
Yes they would be :)

Hi all, I am posting this in the common room as it a few clues I am looking for.
Walter James ALLEN was born in Watford in 1906, He married Queenie Marshall in 1934 in Barnet.
He joined the Royal Artillery & was injured in the war, sadly passed away from same in Hanwell Asylum.
I have been trying to work out which Walter he is from army records (there are a few) I was wondering if the 1939 register would have any clue on this? They were living 57 Botwell Crescent Hays Middx at the time.
We are going to write to the LMA to see what records they have for the asylum but wanted to find either his occupation or service history first.
This is from my wife cousins side of the family.
Many thanks
Den
