Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Mylor Lookup BRUNNING
« on: Tuesday 30 January 07 10:52 GMT (UK)  »
My great great great grandfather William BRUNNING was a mariner and sailmaker who lived at Flushing. He married Elizabeth PASCOE (born 1794) ca 1816 (An IGI family entered record claims he was William Grifiths Browning from Bruce, Ontario)

William appears to have died before 1841, with their youngest child born in late 1839. And had died before 1851.

If anyone has access to Flushing PR I would love it if you could find eitehr William's marriage or burial since I don't know his age. And that would be a great help in identifying where he might have come from - Brunning is an East Anglian name. There is a William Brunning baptised in Moreton Hampstead Devon in 1795 though.

One Name Studies: H to M / MOORCRAFT/MORECRAFT
« on: Tuesday 10 January 06 13:22 GMT (UK)  »
Accumulating data for a one name study of these names.

Most consistent occurences of these spellings (cf the CROFT variants) appear to have arisen in SE England (Bucks, Berks, Kent) or Norfolk.
With migration to other areas, notably Glamorgan and Dorset, ocurring in the the late 19th century

There appears to be a seperate line arising in Ireland with migration to Canada in the mid-19 Century.

Berkshire / MORECRAFT Hurley ca 1800
« on: Friday 16 December 05 16:57 GMT (UK)  »
The 1851 census for Burnham Bucks shows Thomas and William MORECRAFT, both from Hurley, born ca 1798 and 1800, who were in Burnham by June 1841

If anyone can check the Hurley PRs for their baptisms I'd appreciate details. I'm trying to establish a link to the MOORCRAFT family found in Bray/Warfield between 1717 and at least 1770.
