Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: MORECRAFT / MOORCRAFT Penn
« on: Thursday 05 November 15 08:19 GMT (UK)  »
I suspect you are right about the census and I've seen similar things with birthplaces, even with annotations in the parish register describing someone as of Bray when baptised Warfield

The odd connection with this family is James MORECRAFT (1811-1856) who in 1841 and 1851 is living with Rachel (1788-1862), also from Penn, at Penn Street. The 1851 describes them as married and has her widowed daughter Betsey BEESON living with them. The latter appears to have been born Betsey ALLEN in 1821.

While James MOORCRAFT & Rachel GRIFFIN witnessed a marriage at Penn in 1833 I can not locate the marriage of James!

Steve

Thanks for that. And I'm familiar with Penn & Amersham, living close to both.

And to add to the confusion all of the baptisms I asked about where of individuals whose birthplace is given as Penn in the 1851!

Trying to find the parents of Charles (1807), James (1808) Robert (1815), Julia (1816) MOORCRAFT. all born Penn. Julia married John King in 1842

Also did James MOORCRAFT (born ca 1811) marry Rachel ca 1835? They were together in 1841 and 1851.

And does anyone known anything about Thomas   MOORCRAFT buried 1822 age 87 or Elizabeth buried 1836 age 88?

John RICE married Elizabeth HUGO in St Just in 1731

which of the burials in 1744, 1758/9 or 1766 was this John?

The earliest of the three was described as a gentleman in the index of wills

Rosie unfortunately it doesn't.

Ann was a widow with 6 children (all born Linton, Kent), one son-in-law and 3 grandchildren living with her.

She and her husband were living in Kent by 1813 when their eldest son was baptised at Linton

I know that the premises in Brick Lane, WHitechapel, were renumbered after 1870.

Could anyone tell me what the former no 53 now corresponds to?
