my 4x great grandmother Ann PORTER married Thomas MORECRAFT at St Leonard's Shoreditch 31 July 1809 with the wedding witnessed by Mary PORTER

Ann appears to have been born in 1788/1789 based on her reported age of 61 when she died in March 1849.

The only Ann PORTER I can find baptised in Shoreditch (in 1792) was the daughter of William PORTER and Ann Faulkener who married at St Leonard's in 1786 and appear to have had 11 children baptised there (but no Mary born before 1809).

Can anyone offer any insights on either Ann or the family of William and Ann?

Four children (William 1786, Elizabeth 1792, Sarah 1795, Jane 1798) were baptised at Bridgwater between 1786 and 1798 to William and Jane THOMAS, presumably William Thomas of Compton Bishop who married Jane THORN at Bridgwater 29 Aug 1781

Sarah married William MEADOWS RM at East Stonehouse in August 1821 with William THOMAS one of the witnesses, and the 1851 census confirms her birth place as Bridgewater.

Has anyone any knowledge of her parents or siblings?

Eliza COOMBS baptised Walcot St Swithin 15/2/1801 dau of John & Elizabeth COOMBS, married by license 8/6/1818 Bath St James to William CAVE, witnessed by Richard & MAria TREHERN.

Richard was probably her uncle, marrying Sarah COOMBS 9/1/1797


Any info on the marriage of John, or any siblings of Eliza would be welcome

I thought it rambled too much with the supernatural stories only brought in because of what Mark Gattiss has performed in.

An earlier interview indicated his father to be from a long line of miners which suggests that the Irish side of his ancestry was the interesting side.

Thanks but unlikely as NBI says born 1761 for the 1829 burial, there are none showing in Wilts born ca 1790

I wondered about that marriage but in the absence of any indication of a death of (the first) Elizabeth I was unsure. The occupation of the Gloucs' Matthew makes sense given the area my Matthew came from. But that family seems to disappear after 1841

Matthew POOLE married Mary Pond st Trowbridge St James 28 August 1815.

They had 4 daughters baptised at Chippenham between 1821 and 1824, the eldest also having been baptised elsewhere earlier

Emma (born 1816) married Thomas WITCOMB 22 Feb 1836 at Trowbridge
Charlotte (1824) married John Taylor at Bradford in 1845
Elizabeth born and died 1823

What became of Matthew, his wife Mary and their daughter Ann (bapt 1821)?
