cando,What do you mean incorrect?..Iwas only referring to one family1...You could also throw in a Richard MORTIMORE family or Bridget MORIGAN as well....Henry TOWNSEND's mother had at least 5 different surnames as well as 4 different christian names and most organizations whether government or not welcomes corrections [if any] to their records and could at least respond with a proper explanation like the Chaters on this site.Medusa

Thanks for the replies everyone...
Thank you JM for the BDM info and I believe that ELIZA and her birth[In Tassie ?] may have slipped through the cracks. When I went through Trove for either Eliza MORTIMER or George[Henry] Townsend nothing came up,but when I Headlined "Family Notices" it appeared on the 11/7/1874 but no mention of Eliza but "his wife".
For Sue ...I have checked out George Thomas Green/Bridget Mortimer[married 1865] to see if there was any connection to Eliza but nothing!...and cross checked anyone named Elizabeth/Eliza who's birth may have been in 1855?? and their parents...nothing.
When Richard MORTIMER/Bridget M?? had children they were all boys..but there is a few years gap between the first boy and the 2nd two so maybe there was a girl in between and they were having trouble and Bridget had to go to the Asylum/Orphange people for help...MEDUSA

To Cando
If you read my Post again you will see I have made the suggestion that any info about her birth could be swept under the carpet and by the way I have not just started doing this Family Research?
I have asked the Vic BDM to "amend/check their records so if I am going to pay $31 for a certificate I dont want a copy of mistakes from the Pioneer Index!
Who is MARY ANN..?....ELIZA'S [birth] the same rego number as someone else?
For an online enquiry with the Qld BDM ,they will give you the deceased person's parents full names and as for Linc Tasmania...very helpful[they will even phone you if they are not sure of your question]
Once again if you read my post you will see I have been very busy in Tassie ...not just with Linc but also Family search, checking female births/baptism with name ELIZA/ELIZABETH..MEDUSA

First of all appologies to Trish1120,I replied to you yesterday?..evidently it did"nt go through maybe I forgot your full title.
Now for Cando,Mollipops1and Sparrett as well this is my ELIZA's story so far after about 2 years...there are so many scenarios to who she was even her name?
She was not born in Tasmania[so say LINC TASMANIA] and after searching through Orphanges/Asylums I agree!
I have checked out eveything on RICHARD MORTIMER/BRIGET of many names and their usage of the asylums for their own children[2boys] and others ..RICHARD  died in 1865 after working as a ship's steward BRIDGET married a MR GREEN..I have also crossed reference every ELIZBETH/ELIZA and shoemaker I could find and NOTHING..Not certain haw many words Iam allowed in this Post?
Victoria BDM are useless their Historical records on ELIZA and MARY ANN[baby who died]
are wrong and I have asked them toamend them [no reply].. I found out by trawling through "family notices" for the AGE and ARGUSfor 1874 that ELIZA was buried on 1/7/1874 and her daughter who was called ELIZA as well was buried on the15/7/1874.
I confirmed this by ringing up the Melbourne General Cemetery who did not have the "unmarked grave" registered...They had no records of a MARY ANN?
All the info everyone has contributed...and first born ROSETTA went to live HENRY TOWNSEND's 2nd family.....but I still cannot confirm who ELIZA's parents were...they could of course been RICHARD MORTIMER/BRIDGETand possible there was something wrong with ELIZA and they cast her aside which would be swept under the carpets\!
The funeral did not mention relatives...only friends....regards MEDUSA

Hello aghadowey,
Well I have been a busy bee, getting in touch with St Tilda's who could confirm that the MARGARET BLAIR born in Cookstown in1859 was a different Margaret who did marry a STEWART..a rRobert and not a JOHN!
I have been sorting out the "whereabouts" of the 6 siblings into fact and fiction and most of them went to the USA except ALEXANDER CRAWFORD BLAIR [buried Cooroy QLD 1955] and ROBERT BLAIR[buried Palmwoods QLD 1951] who ended up in Queensland via the USA!
I have also a few possibilties for MARGARET JANE maybe being married in Scotland and that their oldest son JOHN ALEXANDER [born in Scotland ?] was not her's.  ...M

First of all what does MDES mean and GEDCOM...?..As I mentioned before I am not to flash on the PC even reading my"Windows8 for Dummies"!
If you wish to give me your email address thats ok ..it might make it a lot easier sending files[wont have to keep renaming each file and making sure the size is not to big!..now to serious stuff!
I think I overdid the searching on PRUDENCE BAXTER's tree when I realised if she and WILLIAM SMALL had no children, then we have no connection, then I discovered their 3 children MARGARET,WATTEN and ELIZABETH.
The SMALL lineage then went to WILLIAM [S or T] then the only child WILMA who married a RUSSELL HALLIDAY and died in Hingham Massachusetts aged 101.
Most of this information I got on Family Search and once you get onto the USA site you pick up a lot more info.
With regards to Wales..just follow the Baxter's lineage!
Google search WILLIAM SMALL-PRUDENCE BAXTER and log onto Ancestry[no charge] the family tree will come up...then you can knock yourself out with all the info as well as a ream of A4..Adios Medusa
