Canada Lookup Request / canada, possible st.john. n.b. lookup
« on: Monday 03 December 07 17:28 GMT (UK)  »

i am looking for a Robert thomas gibbons, b. 1887 kirkdale, liverpool, UK. father was thomas gibbons, b. 1853 Cheshire, UK.  mother anne roberts, b. 1852 flintshire, n. wales.

Roberts father thomas, was a saddler and Robert was, according to the 1901 census apprenticed to his father.

the last mention i have for Robert is the 1901 census liverpool.  i think he may have emigrated to either USA or Canada.  presumably, he would have completed his apprenticeship in 1908 and after that may well have emigrated.  i have tried unsuccessfully checking passenger records from time to time when there have been free periods. there are no marriage or death records for Robert in the u.k.

suffolk sue kindly found this reference to a robert thomas gibbons, who emigrated  from liverpool to canada.  it would appear to be my man.

Passenger destination port - St. John, NB Canada
Aged 26yrs

Could anyone check on the occupants of 105 and 5, Downing Rd Bootle during the years 1908- 1915.  I am hoping it will be a family of Crosbies at 105 and possibly a family of gibbons at number 5.

Offaly (Kings) / Offaly Kings County, Gray
« on: Monday 16 July 07 10:23 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to establish the birth of a Bernard Gray.  He would be born around the 1820's I think.  He was possibly born in either Offaly, Louth or Antrim, Offaly being the best bet.  His spouse was an Alice Rinrouse,Ringrose or Ringrow.

Bernard and Alice had a son John B. 1847 Dumfries, who married Margaret Brotch in Dumfries in 1859.  John is recorded on the LDS 1881 census, living in Cumberland.

I have checked the 1851 Dumfries census and Bernard does not appear to be in that area.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lancashire / Prince Edwin Street liverpool
« on: Friday 08 June 07 08:22 BST (UK)  »
Trying to trace where anyone who died in Prince Edwin Street Liverpool in the year 1853 would be likely to have been buried. They were of Scottish birth.  ( I don't think they were Catholic)  I have looked at an index of cemeteries held by the liverpool records office,
 http://archive.liverpool.gov.uk/dserve.exe?&dsqIni=Dserve.ini&dsqApp=Archive&dsqCmd=NaviTree.tcl&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqItem=352%20CEM/1/16&dsqField=RefNo

This index helps to exclude some of the local cemeteries because of the dates they were opened.

Any ideas?

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / No.3, Upper park Place, Richmond, Surrey
« on: Tuesday 10 April 07 17:02 BST (UK)  »
No.3, Upper park Place,  Richmond,  Surrey

Interested to know if the above address still exists.  It doesn't show on any of the searches i have tried.

If it does still exist, is there anyone out there who would be kind enough to photograph it for me.  Alternatively,  are there any archive photographs of that area that any one knows of?

Thanks Purlin
