That's great!
Thanks for clearing that up for me!
I wasn't too sure about the whole process but that sounds a bit more positive.
I truly have no idea about military matters!!!
thank you very much for your help

Thank you will try that!
p.s.  How does this next of kin thing work?  My grandfather who I am searching for information on died in 1970 and his wife my Grandmother died in 1978 and she would have been the next of kin.  Does this kinship pass down to the next generation? In which case would it be easier for my uncle to request the document as he was their eldest child?

If i have a persons army roll number is it possible to find out information about when and where they served?
The number begins T/........ i believe that is for transport???
If the person is deceased can others have access to records??
Also are there any ways in which you can find out about leave they had taken whilst serving in the 2nd world war up to 1950's ?
I recently was told he may have been bitten by a venomous snake whilst serving - would that help?

i cannot find any other info on this person but know he served with a lancashire regiment possibly the fusiliers! i believe he was in India and Burma

if i can get some info about when he was in the army it may help or maybe not but you never know until you try!

does the hundred year rule apply to war docs like the census?

Sorry for being a bit long replying been busy trying to sort all my tree. too much going on!!!! You know how it is.  It sounds about right for them to be born in 1904 my grandad was born in 1929 and his brother 2 or 3 years earlier. I know his dad died in his late 50's or 60's when my mum was in her early teens so that would fit age wise.
thanks so much for looking

hi i have only just begun this side of my tree but it seems that my great grandma's maiden name was (Edith) Egan. She lived in Hull with her husband Joseph Robinson and their three children (my Grandad and his brother and sister).  They lived in Grafton street off Newland Avenue, Hull.  I don't know if there is a connection to your family but the reason i mentioned it is that you said someone married at St John's church - Would that be St John's Newland? Similar area i'll do a bit more research i think!

hi and thankyou very much.  Busy little bees you all are. ok. My grandfathers name was Vincent Leslie Robinson but was known as Leslie - he was born february 1929 and ive gone and forgotten the date (that's really bad!) how awful!  i think its the 20th? He died a few years ago now very suddenly but he loved this sort of thing!  I know very little other than they were Roman catholic and his mum was quite devout.  He has an older brother Gordon and sister Marion i think she was younger.  They lived in Grafton street in Hull during the war i think it was number 8 i remember him talking about a neighbouring house that was bombed (the whole area was quite badly).  I know his dad was called Joseph Meredith Robinson i always thought Meredith was a girls name! so it stuck in my head.  I know his mum was called Edith but i don't know her maiden name. will have to get some certificates i think.  my uncle seems to think that they were both born in yorkshire somewhere but thinks Edith may have been from west yorkshire originally.  i can't find a marriage in Hull for them so it makes sense.  i don't know if any of that helps in any way! I hadn't thought about them being alive in 1901 of course they would have been.  feel a bit daft now!!!  :P never was good at maths! (Ironic really my grandad spent hours teaching me long division and algebra - funny its about all i can do now too)  anyway thank you again.

:D  hi there!  i havejust looked on Bmd and found a marriage of a Joseph M Robinson to a Annie E Shepherdson in 1911 records held in leeds i need to workout if these people could be my great grandparents? any ideas on where to look or how to find out would be greatly appreciated?  i know my great grandfather was named Joseph Meredith Robinson and he was married to an Edith (?) so this could be them.  i realise there will be no census stuff yet but anything is better than nothing.

thank you!
