Well unless my eyesight is failing badly, I can't see any mention of the name Thelma on page one.  The first mention of the name Thelma is at Reply #12.

Presumably you now have details of the marriage.

Who are 'they'?  Are you referring to the lady in the photo or someone else?

There was a lot of age massaging done in connection with marriages.  I had an ancestor who claimed to be younger than she was, in fact she was ten years older than her husband.

It's probably still done today, unless production of a birth certificate before marriage is a requirement now.

I wonder if this is the lady in question?

I'm a little dubious about the sponsor being the mother.  I see that Charles married on 17th December 1856 to a Susannah Gnanpra - gasam?? who was aged 24.  They were both residing at Trichinopoly.

Charles was 31 and manager of pension office Trichinopoly.

Have you tried to trace Charlotte Capell at all?

Any idea of what the name of the vicar is?  It looks like it may be Marr but I'm not sure.

Welcome to RootsChat  :D

May I suggest that you try emailing the main RAOB?  Email addy is:- webmaster@raobgle.org.uk

There is also a phone number:- 01423 502438

I would recommend that you try phoning first to see if you get any response.  Someone else emailed and didn't appear to get any reply.

They do have a Facebook group but it depends on whether you have Facebook yourself.  If you do you may be able to make contact through that.

This apparently is what the occupation of driver was in WW1:-

Driver (Dvr) was a military rank used in the British Army and the armies of other Commonwealth countries. It was equivalent to the rank of private. The rank was initially used in the Royal Artillery for the men who drove the teams of horses which pulled the guns.

The badge image I gave you shows a gun on wheels.  Could this in fact be the right one?
