Armed Forces / 5th great grandfather army records help please
« on: Thursday 21 May 20 09:46 BST (UK)  »
I have found 3 records on Anc which I believe belong to my 5th gt grandfather and am hoping somebody can help me understand a bit more about his military career
The first and second ones come under the category of Canada, British Regimental Registers of Service 1756-1900
The first one details are William Sangster age 19 born 1794 Inverikellan ( mix transcription of Inverkeilor) Forfar Attestation date 22 May 1813 for 7 years 1st Foot Soldiers 3rd Battalion

The second one is for William Sangster 1st Foot 1st Battalion 1813-1815

The 3rd is the record of Waterloo medal for William Sangster Rank Private Regiment 3rd Battalion Royal Scots Sub Unit Captain Geo. Marlay (Major's) Company No.6.
Through a family story we were told he did serve at Waterloo so I believe this is him

Thanks

Angus (Forfarshire) / Re: Seeking help to find Burnett family of Montrose
« on: Thursday 21 May 20 00:24 BST (UK)  »
There are a few Burnett families having children between 1760 and 1800 in Montrose, Dun and Craig
Dun and Craig are small parishes both within 5 miles of Montrose
What was the names of your ancestors children in order of birth as sometimes the Scots used a naming pattern which could identify his parents

I would suggest Susan Morgan or Tackney now married to David Millar, but (as has been said) it would be helpful to see more of the entry.
Thank you that's her just checked with Scotland People and looked again at the very and can see it now
