Nose, chin and facial contour are exact.  We could always ask her...she's still going strong!

Sorry pic is so big....I can't figure out how to fix it... Help someone!

I think its just the angle of the older photo, and the lighting. She may be squinting a bit. Also the photo K posted is ~ 10 years later. If you look at photos of her from the correct time frame it looks  like her. Of course, she is not British, but nobodys perfect ;-)

Certainly looks a lot like the actress/singer Shirley Jones. She was in the film "The Music Man" around this time.

The recent release of the Kirk Session records has been quite a benefit to me, and it may be useful to you as well. It takes a bit of work, but the records are free to view and you may get lucky and find something useful. It's certainly a resource to keep in mind. Good luck!

Aberdeenshire / Re: Episcopal church records
« on: Thursday 06 May 21 00:58 BST (UK)  »
I was certain I had perused the microfilm with Births, Baptisms, Marriages and Deaths and burials from St. Pauls in Aberdeen covering the years 1720 to 1865, and indeed I had back in 2016! They can be obtained on loan from LDS at most local librarys.... at least here in the US. In fact I may have saved some of the actual images from said years...I'll take a look. OK I did save a bunch of jpg's from St. Pauls but nothing from 1822 or thereabouts. Had a quick look in nearby years and no Hendersons or Taylors jumped out at me. But the records from those years are nice and clear so you should'nt have much trouble once you get a hold of the microfilm.

Aberdeenshire / Re: alexander gray

There are 10 Alexander Gray's Born in Aberdeen between 1792-1800. What you need to do is check the recently released Kirk Session records for the corresponding birth locations, if they're available, and hope you get lucky. If he ran off to NZ around 1826, I'd start around year 1827 and work my way back. Perhaps he was running from an illicit child? The Kirk Session records are free to browse. Good luck!

Aberdeenshire / Re: Episcopal church records

The records of the Episcopal Church of Scotland are not available* online, and specifically they are not on Scotland's People.

*Well, there could be an occasional one that someone has transcribed, but mostly they are not.

I believe that some of the Aberdeenshire ones are in the Aberdeen University Library, some may (or may not) be in the Diocesan archives, and others remain in the individual churches.

So not only do you need to go to Aberdeen(shire), you also need to check carefully before you set off so that you know which repository has the one(s) you want to see.

Doesn't the LDS have them on microfilm as well?
