US Completed Requests / 1870 Census of Rhode Island
« on: Sunday 25 June 06 05:56 BST (UK)  »
I would appreciate help in finding :

Peter Quigley a shoemaker, born 1827 in England, his wife Sarah Ann Quigley, born 1827 England, daughter Mary E Quigley born 1862 Rhode Island.

In the 1880 Census Peter is a widow, he is by then residing in California, and I am very interested to see if there are any more children born to him and Sarah Ann.

Thank you very much if you can help me,
Pat

Dear Amy

That is so  wonderful that you have traced another one for me. And as Bennett is a common name please do not worry about the second one. I am very grateful for what you have sent me. I do have a Smith too! but I thought I would leave that!

Such a lot of information available in the US censuses I wonder what they did with it all?

Again many thanks for all your hard work it is really appreciated,

Kind regards,
Pat

Dear Amy

Thank you so much for this, they certainly moved around the USA. There would not be too many Valentine's I would imagine. I am sure you have the right Mary too, and it so nice to see descendants.
I think Susan, or Susie, married a Bennett, Theresa married Northam. I am more than happy with what you have sent me, so I do not expect for you to spend more time.

Thank you again,
Kind regards,
Pat

US Lookup Requests / Re: Information on USA Marriage Certificates
« on: Friday 05 May 06 02:27 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Nutkin

I see the requests only go to 1877, then it is by written request. I was trying to find out before I did this convoluted request for a certificate to see if the parents would be on the certificate. I will wait a little while and see if there is any response to the inquiry I made on Susan's web site.

Thanks for your help again,
Kind regards,
Pat

Dear Susan

Thanks for the reply. I am sorry I should have included the date it was 1883, so I think I can assume that the parents of the bride and groom were not a requirement at that time. What a shame!

Do you know if it was a requirement in the case of a death, 1915?

I have put in a request to the site that you mentioned too. Thanks for that, but I am not that hopeful, as it did not specify Paterson.

I would very much appreciate any help you can give me.

Kind regards,
Pat

Ireland / Re: Toole late 1700 to early 1800's Ireland
« on: Sunday 30 April 06 01:07 BST (UK)  »
Dear Ticker and Annie,

Thank you it is good to hear from you both. I did look at the Terrance Toole on the 1881 census, but could find no connection.
My lot, the children were all born in Manchester 1818-1822, but I do know from a USA census of all things! that on one side both Terrance Toole and Frances Dowd were born in Ireland. Probably late 1700's to early 1800's. With respect to the Lynch/Rafferty with similar times, I can find no records to find their origins. I have looked at many side connections which may be related in case they should drop a hint or two in the censuses, but again it has been zero.
But, one day I will find them!
Kind regards,
Pat

Dear Ticker

Thanks for the all those links, in one convenient Link. I have searched already a few of them.

It is really quite sad that so many people like myself are searching for information on their ancestors, without knowing a definite place of origin to start from.

I do not give hope though, thanks again,
Pat
