Thank you so much Rosie and Debra, you have given me loads to work on. I am still trying to decipher the hand writing on the settlement document.   >:(

As a bit of interest, in the 1911 census, William Albert and Jessie Gardiner were living in the same house in Bow in which I was born 26 years later, although Jessie moved out after William was killed in France in 1918.  :)

Not shore, South Wimbledon is the other side of London to Islington, rather a long way to go just to be baptised.

Thanks Rosie, I also saw that but couldn't trace him in any census returns except the 1911.

I found this     a Charles Thatcher married to Alice Gardiner Sept Qtr 1897 in Bethnal Green. Also a Charles Gardiner's death March 1887 in Islington. This could be his father as on William and Jessie's marriage cert. his father is deceased.

Hi all

I'm trying to find the parents of William Albert Gardiner. He was born in 1886, in Islington, and married my Great Aunt Jessie Wartski in 1908 in Poplar. He died on the 29th August 1918 in France.
The notification of his death states that he was the son of "Mrs Thatcher".
The only census return that I can find is for 1911 when he is living with his wife in Poplar.

Any info will be gratefully received.

Hi
An ancestor, Thomas Grey, died in a duel in 1752. His opponent, Lord Lempster, was tried at the Old Bailey. Do any records from 1752 exist and if so where can I find them?

Hi All
I am trying to find any information about Mary Mynott. She was born in the latter part of 1935 in Brentford, Middlesex. Her father was Charles William Mynott and her mother was Dorothy Emily Snelling.
