I would like to find the birth details of my ancestor John Ellis, he was born in 1809 don't know the month or who his parents are, but he was born in the Berrington Workhouse or Crosshouse Workhouse in BerringtonSalop, the workhouse was amalgamated into the Atcham Union workhouse Thank you

I want to find his details because he was in the 45th Regiment, and I think he was amazing, he began in a workhouse and ended up a quartermaster sergeant having all these adventures in the army :-S

Hi  :D

I am trying to find out, where I can find info on my ancestor John Ellis his birth record in particular.
He was born  1809 in the Berrington Crosshouses Workhouse in Berrington if anyone can look it up for me that would be great. I think he is very interesting because even though he came from a poor background, he went into the army and rose to the rank of quarter master sergeant and he went to South Africa South America he led an adventurous life
