Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: BARBER, Yarmouth 1901 Please
« on: Thursday 02 October 08 14:14 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Pam, that's great. Olive was born in 1901, probably after the census. Frederick might have died - don't know about James, he was Bertha's twin brother, quite possibly he died too.

Thanks again,
Lee

Buckinghamshire / Re: DEW Family in Iver
« on: Monday 15 September 08 09:20 BST (UK)  »
Thank you for this information Sue,
I'm particularly interested in the ROBERT DEW you mention, with his rather full house! I don't suppose you have any additional details about him - like an occupation perhaps? Also, do you know if the settlement book makes any reference to the arrival of Robert and his wife Sophia in Iver? Presumably around 1798...?

Thanks again for your help,
Lee

Thank you! Family definitely 'Barber' BUT couple not married until 1874 ... maybe Phoebe gave 'Burton' as a sort of compromise :)

Thanks again

Could someone please show me the details of the following:

RG10/1788 Pg 16 - Address 2 Laughing Corner Gt Yarmouth.

I'm looking for a little boy Joseph George Barber b. abt 1867 Gt Yarmouth. I believe he is mistranscribed here as "George Burton" I need to know who is listed as his parents etc.

Thank you so much,
Lee

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 Census Please LAKE
« on: Tuesday 17 June 08 11:12 BST (UK)  »
Seems to be the tradition amongst my rural mid - 19th c. families. To have one child before marriage, then marry when the second was on the way or when the child was weaned. I think it's something to do with retaining the help and or wage of daughters until the baby becomes another mouth to feed. I'm writing an article about it at the moment.

Regards,
Lee

Norfolk Lookup Requests / 1851 Census Please LAKE
« on: Tuesday 17 June 08 10:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi - I'm looking for a HANNAH LAKE b. abt 1847 in Freethorpe Norfolk. The IGI suggests her parents were a THOMAS LAKE and MARY but I can't confirm this. Hannah married young in Freethorpe so I am presuming her family were in the area 1851.

Thanks for your time,
Lee

Cheshire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 Please BANCROFT
« on: Tuesday 03 June 08 14:23 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for those - the information from the IGI is what I had based my assumptions about the family on, but someone just showed me a census with a married Ann and family with a lodger JANE BANCROFT b. 1841 Stockport. i followed Jane through the census's and she retains this birthdate. It doesn't say sister - in - law on the census so I guess I shouldn't jump to conclusions. It might just be a coincidence of name :)
Thanks for the census info - I've ordered a marriage cert which should let me know if that's her family or not.
Thanks again,
Lee
