Yes, it's unfortunate ... this information is part of a mystery in my mother's family tree I haven't really been able to crack:
My mother's mother was EDITH CLARA BURRELL b. 27th Oct 1908, Islington. Her parents were CLARA ANN MARY DEW b. 8th November 1875, Islington ( I have plenty of information about her family) and mystery man ERNEST JAMES BURRELL, they were married at Emmanuel Church Islington in Sept 1897. ERNEST's details from this marriage state that he was born in 1869, his father was a JAMES BURRELL, deceased and he was employed as an engine driver at the time of his marriage. Despite many years of looking I haven't been able to find the couple on the 1901 census. I have recently uncovered them in 1911 living in Wood Green with 5 of their children: ERNEST BURRELL, HEAD, MARRIED 14 YRS M 38 LABOURER BRICKLAYER b. ESSEX BENFLEET, from this I have been able to identify ERNEST on the 1891 census as 24 yr old Warehouseman b. Sth Benfleet. The only possibility on the 1881 census are living "4 Bracklyn St, London" under the name of "MILLER" ERNEST is transcribed as ERNEST T MILLER b. 1868, Benfleet, Essex. Parents are JAMES and ELIZABETH. I haven't been able to check the original to see if it's a case of indecipherable handwriting (RG11 0388/44 pg 11) but there is a child born that matches with the 1881 census STANLEY GEORGE MILLER reg. Rochford 1877. from my notes i have a possible sighting of mother ELIZABETH BURRELL in 1891 visiting in South Fambridge, Essex - if someone could look her up for me I would be very grateful ( b. abt 1847, Canvey Island) Apologies for the long post and many requests for help, but this is confusing me and I don't have any access to census info at the moment.
Thanks for your help,
Lee
