Thank you all for helping find more family to add to the Tree. Only vague memories & theories all clarified now. Gosh - poor James losing his wife Jeanie after 4 yrs only in NZ. That's why my husband thought he never married. My husbands mum Jean came to NZ with Edward & Jane Graham at age 9 & discovered she wasn't their daughter at age 50. Her Dad gave her away. She met her siblings after that in USA & Scotland but then sadly died 6 yrs later. James lived with Edward & James at Runanga & now know why. Thank you!

That's really interesting minniehaha - solves a mystery. My husband thought James never married but also thought William was his son! Lots of unanswered questions which you have helped to solve. Amazing! Thank you

They were both miners.
Burnbank is a district in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Gosh - you've all done some great research! That looks like it to me as James lived with Jane & Edward Graham at Rununga & my husband called him Uncle but everyone was uncle in those days so he wasn't sure. The details of trip to NZ is interesting - Graham's & Massey's coming together. That makes a lot of sense. I'm in a hurray right now but very pleased with results. Will send more later. Thanks for all contributions.

Hello Hayjood,

As yet not finding a positive death for your man in New Zealand.

What evidence do you have that he died in 1949?

Minniehaha.

We have a photo of his grave with his name on it & lots of flowers

I am searching for more information on James Massey who lived on the West Coast of New Zealand with Edward & Jane(Jeanie) Graham & he died 1949. He was related to Edward & he was born in Scotland. I would like information of where & when he was born & the name of his wife for our family tree. Not sure if this should be in NZ or Scotland section? If anyone can throw any light I'd be grateful.
