Did he marry during his service in the RAF? If so send to GRO for the marriage cert. as his service number should be on it. £9.25 each cert wherever you are in the world.

If he married before or after his RAF service send for his birth cert from GRO as MOD ask for his service number or exact date of birth with his full name.

My OH's grandmother was a WW1 widow, he died in 1918 and he was left on the electoral roll until she moved when she remarried in 1920.

Worcestershire / Re: Help needed to connect mother and daughter

Hello,

This is my family. James is the brother of my gt gt grandfather Joseph Lloyd. If you look at the 1841 census at Holly Hall - original not transcription - you will find James living next door to Joseph and on the other side their parents John Lloyd and Honor Pearson and their youngest 2 siblings, Simeon and Maria.

I have seen many trees that have James married to Hannah Nichols but I looked at their children, 1841 Ann HODGETTS Lloyd born she died 1844. Knew children often carried mother's or grandmother's maiden names. This gave me the link to Hannah Hickmans.

Occupation Interests / Re: Currier of horses

Many of my family were in the leather trade in Walsall, a town well known for it's leather trade. Many were curriers spelled that way on the census form. I have heard the word currier as someone who works in the tanning side for many years.

Your relative may be near the racecourse because of the death rate of the horses. Have you got him on other censuses and what does he do, have any children followed him into his profession? It may become clearer then.

:)  :)

I'm afraid Lucy Paddock's side is a bit confusing.

1871
RG10/3101 33 25
Birmingham
4 Shipstone Place

James Paddock, head, 43, Bricklayer, b. Walsall
Sarah, wife, 37, Bridle Stitcher, b. do.
Sarah A, dau, 15, Folder & Sewer (something), b. do.
Mary J, dau, 13, Bridle Stitcher, b. do.
Jogn J, son, 11, scholar, b. do.
John B, son, 8, scholar, b. Birmingham
Charles, son, 5, scholar, b. do.
Alice E, dau, 2
Lucy, dau, 4m, b. Birmingham

1861
RG9/2014 136 27
Walsall Foreign, Staffordshire
339 Green Lane

James Paddock, head, 33, Bricklayer, b. Walsall
Sarah, wife, 29, Bridle Stitcher, b. do.
Sarah Ann, dau, 5, scholar, b. do.
Mary Jane, dau, 3, b. do.
John James, son, 10 mo, b. do.

James Paddocks age is consistent from 1861 through 1901, and the IGI has a nice christening:
JAMES PADDOCK
06 JAN 1828  Saint Matthew, Walsall
Father  EDWARD PADDOCK
Mother SARAH

Now what's strange is that I can see this family on earlier census (1841), but James' age is 3 years out  ???

HO107/983/12 30 8
Walsall Foreign

Edward Paddock, 35, (can't read occupation, perhaps 'Brickle?')
Sarah, 30
Phineas, 14
James, 9
Edward, 8
Sarah, 7
John, 4
Bridget, 3
Ann, 2
Lucy, 2months

All born in county.

The really weird thing is that there is a christening for Phineas on the IGI in 1824 (=3 years out as well)
Not sure I'd put too much money on this 1841 find  :P
However, these Edward & Sarah only live a few households away from James & family in 1861.

This is my family. The 1841 census is known for the altering of ages by the enumerators. Edward was my gt gt gt grandfather via Phineas b abt 1824.  I have the family tree if you want help with them. Pat

This is my family my gt gt grandfather Joseph b abt 1814 a miner died 1843 is Simeon b abt 1825 brother, parents John Lloyd and Honor Pearson.

Some of Simeon's family did go to the north east, he remarried after the death of his wife.

Simeon is the name of Honor Pearson's brother. It became a Lloyd name. My gt grandfather, grandfather and uncle were all Simeons. They remained in the Black Country. Hope you are still on here to see this.  :)
