Well I just couldn't believe my luck when i saw the name COLLINSON

My sister in law is 87 and I suppose as you get older you want to know your roots.   She was born out of wedlock with ARTHUR COLLINSON as father, who eventually 10 or more years later "went off with a women" my sister in law has said that she thought he went to high wycombe.

Her Grandparents were Joseph and Ada (Taylor)  COLLINSON (Joseph being a clog maker)

His brothers were ERNEST COLLINSON died in the HMS Josefina Thorden in 1943 aged 40.
                          JOSEPH COLLINSON born 1910
JARARD born 1912 and married to Elise M  Ralmley

                  and   ARTHUR COLLINSON her father

I have got this far..... !!!!  I got as far as he died in 1962 in the register for England & Wales 1837-2007  - What do I do now...... I have gone through England & Wales 1837 and can't find any info

She remembers one of the brothers taking her up to Penrith and playing with her (she was born in 1928) but thats all she can remember but presumably Arthur would have taken her up there as she lived in Kendal.  Arthur also lived in Kendal.  She can't remember anything else and would dearly like more information which is where I come in as I have a computer, albeit in Spain and my computer is roasting.

Can you possibly help with any more information about the COLLINSONS?

I would be very grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have already spent lots of time on this but got (as I see it) nowhere really!!!

I think she would like to know if the brothers had any children etc

That's nice of you to reply I only know the collinsons ...does Penrith come into it!!!

Well I think it would be to find jarard, joseph and Arthur as the name would be easy to find is the the book. It might not be whinfell \ winfell though or Penrith ...perhaps they moved away.

I would be really interested to find out how many collinsons there were.

On another note , please don't laugh but my other sister in-law on my ex husbands side and I decided to do that family tree.

She would send info and I would look it up. His name was Joseph vennas Miranda. She had found a picture with his name on it. It all turned out to be a fantastic adventure, she thought as he was a catholic and Spanish ...we thought ...we came to the conclusion it was India so off to India we went. Its a long long story but my ex came in and paid someone to do the next step. Spanish it was but Brazil.  The story was like a fairy story but met so many nice Indians in Goa, don't ask how we knew it was Goa, can't remember now..it was before computers so you can imagine but it was good fun best of it is my daughter is not interested..  Oh well there you are

I am frustrated, I could not do this full time, when you ask a question no-one answers not into a private message

I am doing this for my sister in law Jean Kellett who is 87 and dearly want to answer her questions about the Collinsons

1. I have managed to get her fathers birth and death (which took me all week to do)
Where can I go from here, after the death it says England & Wales deaths 1837 to 2007 and Surrey Northern, Surrey, England. His name was Arthur Collinson born 1910 and he died in 1962.

3. The last I saw her (I live in Spain) she was remembering how one of the brothers used to play with her - Arthur's brothers were JARARD COLLINSONborn 1912  who married Elise M Palmley in 1945 and had a child there is a dash before the 1945 so don't know whether that was the marriage date or birth of child. I don't know where he lived but the child is likely to be alive (hopefully)

4. There is also Joseph born in 1910 I havent found anything else about him.

Jean was the born out of wedlock and her mother's name was Burrows.  Arthur suddenly she says upped sticks when she was a teenager and left Kendal with a woman. He lived with the Burrows family until leaving Kendal and I suppose he thought he had seen her grow up and it was his time to get a life.

I don't know where to go next, I have put into the computer the grandparents who were Joseph and Ada Taylor born 1874 and 1878 and there is someone on this web site who has a list of the boys but hasn't answered a private message or a message on the board. I just wondered if the writer has died.  Joseph was a clog maker in Winfell (it says Whinfell i think) Penrith, and my heart raced but I have got absolutely nowhere.

How can you all sit there and do your family tree with so much frustration and difficulty.  Can anyone point me in the right direction now.....  Would be appreciated very much. Anne Barnett

First of all Gawith Place, Google Street View might be a good idea to follow up.

Highgate goes up to the top of the town hall and down into kirkland, a big area and I don't think there is a big house anyway at the end of a yard.  some yards were pulled down and big houses probably were divided into flats.

With regard to the bandstand. there is no bandstand anywhere you mention, there is one but not in the town centre

Adverts on this website its very confusing, if you hang on a few days my friend lives in one of the yards he is going to have a look for me.  I can't figure out where yard 3 is and unfortunately my computer is so hot I have just about had it for the day.

You know they knocked down the yards many years ago, my daughter did a dissitation on it, if he was alive now, the man who sanctioned it would be torn apart. He said that they were dirty - which they were but they could have modernised them, look at Kendal now. These houses down the yards go for 200,000 pounds.  Have you seen yard 3?   Highgate goes down a fair way into kirkland and a fair bit towards the town hall.   anyway if John finds the yard, we can go from there.

There is a book in the kendal library that a street by street story of people who lived there.  I don't know whether they still have it but i know you could once take it out of the library because my daughter did research from it, but so many people never took it back they only let you read it in situ. I think.....
